There are several considerations when regarding memory usage.
What applications are running? How much RAM are they using?
Each tab on a browser will require it's own memory space and use additional memory.
If you open the Task Manager (Ctrl + Alt+ Del, Start Task Manager) you will be able to see under the Processes tab how much Memory each open application, app, or tab is using.
