I have a Aspire 5532 laptop, I need to replace the USB plugs, Are they connected to the motherboard or can they be changed without changing the motherboard?

All of the ports are connected directly to the motherboard.

I also have usb ports which don't work on a 5532 and indications are that the registry entries for usb are incorrect. I am trying to find solution, such as working registry entries for this configuration.
