Recovery prompts to switch between Legacy and UEFI mode

Why does my computer tell me to switch between Legacy and UEFI mode when I attempt a recovery?

SYMPTOMS

If you are attempting to perform a recovery and receive a message to switch between UEFI and Legacy modes, it may be a formatting or partitioning issue with the hard drive.

SOLUTION

To resolve this issue, remove all partitions from the hard drive prior to using recovery media. If you have replaced your hard drive with a brand new drive, your recovery media should install with no issues.
