How do I enable Filter Keys?
Filter Keys is an accessibility feature in Windows 11 that will ignore brief or repeated keystrokes and can slow down the repeat rate when a key is held down.
How to Quickly Enable/Disable Filter Keys in Windows 11
- Hold down the Shift key for 8 seconds.
- When the pop-up appears, select Yes to enable Filter Keys.
How to Adjust Filter Key Settings
- Open Settings⚙️. You can do so by holding down Windows⊞ + I on your keyboard.
- On the left side of the Settings window, select Accessibility.
- On the right side, scroll down to the Interaction section and select Keyboard.
- Here you can:
- Enable Ignore Quick Keystrokes (slow keys):
- Select the switch to enable Ignore Quick Keystrokes.
- Select the dropdown and choose how long you want to hold down a key before it is registered.
- Enable Ignore Unintended Keystrokes (bounce keys):
- Select the switch to enable Ignore Unintended Keystrokes.
- Select the dropdown and choose how long you want to wait before you can press the key again for the input to be accepted.
- Enable Ignore Repeated Keystrokes (repeat keys):
- Select the switch to enable Ignore Repeated Keystrokes.
- Select the dropdown and choose how long you want to wait before the first repeated keystroke is registered.
- Select the second dropdown and choose how long you want to wait before any subsequent keystrokes are registered.
