How can I reinstall the operating system on my Android tablet?
PRECAUTION
- This will restore your tablet to the original factory configuration, and erase all data on the system.
- This process will require a microSD card.
- Check the Readme.txt file in the OS download for any changes to installation instructions.
SOLUTION
Use the following steps to download the operating system onto your microSD card.
- Visit the Acer support website and click on Drivers and Manuals.
- Search for your product model, enter your serial number, or select your model from the list.
- Click on the Documents or O.S. tab.
- Click download. Once complete, open the folder where the file is saved.
- Right click on the downloaded file and choose Extract all. Open the new folder that is created.
- There will be two files types, a text document and folder. Right click on the folder and choose Copy.
- Navigate to the microSD card files, right click on an empty space, choose Paste.
- Once the process is complete, remove the microSD card and insert it into the Acer tablet.
Use the following steps to enter the recovery menu.
- Power off the tablet completely.
- Hold the tablet in landscape mode, with the volume key on the top.
- Press and hold volume down and the power button to power on the tablet.
- When the tablet vibrates, release the power button only.
- When the tablet vibrates a second time, release the volume down button and press and hold the volume up button.
- When Booting recovery kernel image is shown in the upper left corner of the screen, release the volume up button.
- When the Android system recovery menu is displayed, enter the recovery menu.
- Use the volume down button to highlight wipe data/factory reset, then press the power button.
- Use the volume down button to select Yes - delete all user data, then press the power button.
- Highlight reboot system now, then press the power button. The tablet reboots and the factory reset is complete.
