Chromebook Spin 11 unable power on for the first time

Why will my Chromebook R751T or R751TN not power on right out of the box?

The first time you power on your Chromebook Spin 11, you should connect the AC adapter to the USB Type-C port on the right hand side of the computer. After the system is powered on for the first time, the ac adapter may be used on either of the USB Type C ports on the unit. If your Chromebook Spin 11 is unable to power on, try connecting the adapter to the USB-C port on the other side of the system for the initial startup.
