CPU fan spinning at over 6000 rpm?

I have a Veriton L4630G with fan running especially hard. The BIOS reports my CPU fan is spinning at over 6000 rpm. Is there a way to slow it down or to reset the software controlling it?

    Hello Warren,

Have you tried loading the default settings in the bios setup utility?

Do you see the Cmos/RTC battery voltage in this one?

    Warren,

There is not software available that would allow for individual control. I don't know the exact specification of the fan on your system at this time, but 6000 sounds like it could be high. If you agree, you may want to look the CPU itself. It's possible that the thermal paste is not doing it's job, which is creating more heat which causes the fan to kick up higher. If the device is still under warranty, this is something our support staff can help with as well.

    Hope this helps,
    Cory

    Hi Cory,

If the Acer thermal module is disabled, the fan rotates at full speed (4200 or 4500 rpm). Regulated or full speed.
