Absolute touchpad nightmare (Synaptic)

My acer V3-331 has a (synaptic) touch pad that is absolutely unresponsive. Sometimes it freezes completely and won't respond at all for seconds. The issue is INFIURIATING.

What can be done to avert this issue? I have updated the synaptic drivers, but so far I am not even sure if they are installed properly as I don't know where to find the needed information (current driver version) out. The problem is not mechanichal as the touchpad was already replaced - without fixing anything.

I have a similar problem with my Acer Aspire VN7-591G, it works fine for the sometime but then for a few seconds it becomes unresponsive or jittery and erratic. I am still waiting for a fix

For me restarting usually cures the issue... until it reappears. Slowly the touchpad degrades into a point of non-usability. It sure would be nice to have a fix. Right now might almost as well not have the touch pad.

Also, the touchpad is not showing up in device manager... any way to fix this?
