Hi,
I've upgraded my laptop from Windows 7 to Windows 8 using the upgrade assistant. Everything was working flawlessly up until I upgraded to Windows 8.1 and that's when trouble struck. For some reason, my bluetooth adaptor (Broadcom) is no longer recognized by the OS, as in it believes such an adaptor does not even exist.
I'm on the latest BIOS available for the laptop which is 1.13 and I have all the latest drivers from the Acer drivers page. The bluetooth adaptor is the only thing not fucntioning. The driver setup just quits everytime after failing to recognize the adaptor's prescence. I don't want to revert back to Windows 8 because its much less stable than 8.1. Any idea why its not recognized? There are updated v2 BIOS files but they're incompatible with my motherboard. Does Acer have any workaround or can their technicians release another BIOS file to rectify this issue if the motherboard is the issue?
Thanks.

I'm afraid that didn't work. Setup still couldn't identify the prescence of a bluetooth device. Tried changing it to "My account" too but that resulted in an error andthe service wouldn't even start. Any further suggestions? Come on Acer, you're better than this.

OK I HAVE THE SOLUTION, BECAUSE I HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. I HAVE INSTALL WINDOWS 8 (IN UEFI NO LEGANCY BIOS) AND UPDATED IN 8.1.WHEN UPDATED THE BLUETOOTH DISSAPEARD. THE SOLUTION IS WHEN YOU TURN ON THE LAPTOP AND ACER LOGO APPEARS PRESS FN+F3 FAST. IF WIFI NOT WORKING LATER, DO THE SAME. NOW I HAVE AND WIFI AND BLUETOOTH

Hi,
I just tried your suggestion but it did not work. The wifi didn't even turn off when Windows 8.1 booted up and there's no signs of any bluetooth device being present. Maybe because I'm running on the legacy 1.13 BIOS which hasn't been updated in over a year. V3s that came preinstalled with Windows 8 continue to recieve the latest v2 which I find unfair. The Windows 7 and 8 versions hardly have 5-6 months between them and I don't see how hard it couldbe to just release an updated BIOS which often seems to be the cause of incompatibility wen hardware arn't properly detected by the OS.

I don't know in legancy bios but I think is the same try pressing fn+f3 in boot actually when WiFi led is turning on. Try it some times. Must Acer do update in launch manager because the function fn+f3 no working in windows 8, 8,1. Make sure that you have install the drivers. I think the uefi bios is better than legancy bios and faster.

I suggest to update the bios in 2.21 the legancy bios is working I tested, because the update said about uefi

The fn+f3 function has 3 usages: only WiFi, only Bluetooth, WiFi and Bluetooth together

Hi,
I tried using Fn+F3 when the Wifi led turned on and it finally worked. Broadcom's drivers detected my Bluetooth adaptor and installed the necessary software. However, my phone doesn't always connect properly to the laptop and the conenction often fails. What's your bluetooth adaptor brand, Atheros or Broadcom and do you have any trouble using the bluetooth adaptor in your Acer properly? Eg: Playing music over bluetooth from your phone to your laptop or sending files from your phone to the laptop.
I can send files from my laptop to my phone but not vice versa and stereo audio over bluetooth no longer functions. Are there any other updated drivers by Broadcom newer than 12.0.0.7850?

I have atheros drivers v 11.41, i sent images in my nokia 1020 without problem and i listen music in my home theater again without problem. Which telephone do you have?
