Most Acer TravelMate notebooks ship in SATA mode by default. Customers using Linux or Virtual operating systems may want to switch their notebooks into AHCI mode. By default, this feature is hidden in the BIOS but can easily be enabled in the system BIOS. Use the instructions below to enable AHCI mode.
- Press and hold the Power Button for 5 seconds to turn the computer completely off.
- Power the computer on and press F2 once the Acer logo appears to access the BIOS.
- Press the Ctrl and S keys at the same time to access hidden options.
- In the MAIN tab, click to turn off the VMD Controller toggle as shown in the image below. This will switch the system to AHCI mode.
Note: Certain BIOS/CMOS features are hidden to prevent accidental changes that can negatively impact system operation.
