Why does my Wi-Fi randomly disconnect?

Windows has a power saving feature that turns off the Wi-fi receiver. This may cause your wireless connection to automatically disconnect. Use the following steps to prevent Windows from turning off your Wi-fi receiver.

Type Device manager in the Windows search bar and click on it.
Click the network adapters category.
In the list of Network Adapters select your Wi-fi adapter.
Select the Power Management tab and uncheck the box labelled "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power".
