What are the differences between a DLP and LCD projector?
Todays market has both DLP and LCD projectors but the technology each uses makes them different. The differences between DLP and LCD projectors are the different ways the image is projected using a lamp light source.
LCD projector's display images using red, blue and green beams that pass through individual LCD panels. These beams are then combined using a dichroic prism to project the image through a lens.
DLP projector's do not use LCD panels but a DLP chip. DLP chips use thousands of tiny mirrors to reflect light through a lens. The light passes through a color wheel that allows the light to come out the correct colors, and then pass through the lens to project the image.
LCD and DLP projectors both have their advantages and disadvantages due to their technology in projecting an image.
