No power or intermittent battery charge may be due to wrong AC adapter on VN7 Nitro series.

Why does my Acer Aspire VN7 Nitro not charge consistently?

There are 2 different wattage adapters approved for the Nitro series of notebooks. The correct approved AC adapter for a Nitro notebook can be identified by looking at the DC Rating label on the bottom of the notebook.

19V @ 4.7A corresponds to the 90W adapter.

19V @ 7.1A corresponds to the 135W adapter

The 90 Watt blue tip adapter has a smaller hole. The 135 Watt orange tip adapter has a larger hole.

If the larger orange tip 135W adapter is used with a 90W blue DC-in port notebook, the 90W notebook may have problems powering up or charging the battery. The smaller DC-in port pin on the 90W notebook doesn't make good contact with the larger hole on the 135W adapter.
