Why do I get the error "can't connect to this network" when I type the correct password for my wireless network?
SYMPTOMS
You may receive an error "Can't connect to this network" if your computer and wireless router are using different security settings.
Example: Your router may be using WEP and your computer set to use WPA2 Personal.
SOLUTION
Change the security setting on your wireless lan adapter using the steps below.
- Attempt to connect to the wireless network to obtain limited connectivity.
- Type Network Connections in the search box.
- Select View Network Connections from the search results.
- Double click your Wi-Fi connection.
- Click Wireless Properties.
- Select the Security tab.
- Change the security type setting to match what your wireless router is using.
