Why does the Disk Manager of my Predator Orion X show an error message when I initialize Disk 2?
The Disk Manager application on your Predator Orion X might display the error message below when you try to initialize Disk 2.
If you encounter this error, it indicates that there is an empty SSD enclosure in your Predator Orion X. Your system detects the enclosure and Disk Manager identifies the enclosure as a portable SSD device, even though there is no SSD in the enclosure. The absence of an SSD in the SSD enclosure causes an error when you try to initialize Disk 2, which triggers the unidentified Disk 2 error message.
To prevent this error from reoccurring, you need to remove your portable SSD enclosure. For instructions on how to remove it, follow the steps below.
How to remove the portable SSD enclosure from your Predator Orion X
- Remove the magnetic transparent cover by pulling it away from the front of your Predator Orion X chassis and put it aside for now.
- Locate the portable SSD slot cover and open it. Refer to the image below.
- Take the portable SSD enclosure out of your Predator Orion X by:
- Pulling out the latch on the front of the SSD enclosure.
- Grabbing the latch and pulling on it.
- Then take the magnetic transparent cover that you set aside at step 1 and attach it to the front of the chassis again.
Disk Manager should no longer display the unidentified Disk 2 error message.
