Audio or Video Glitch When Power Adapter Gets Disconnected

Why does my audio or video get distorted for a few seconds if I disconnect my power adapter when I am watching a video or listening to music?

When you are watching a video or listening to music and you disconnect the power adapter from your notebook, you might experience a few seconds of distorted audio or video. The video or audio should automatically be recovered by your system after 2-3 seconds.

When you switch from AC to DC power, the CPU speed drops and switches to PROCHOT mode. PROCHOT mode underclocks the CPU if the temperature gets too high, preventing it from burning. It also protects your battery when you switch from AC to DC power. The CPU throttling can result in a glitch in your audio or video.

Acer wants to emphasize that this audio/video glitch is not caused by any hardware or software issues, but it is normal system behavior caused by the power protection design of your notebook.
