Chromebook May Not Power On after Hibernation with Closed Lid

What should I do if my Chromebook does not power on after being in hibernation overnight or longer with the lid closed?

Your Chromebook may not power on after being in hibernation overnight or longer if the lid of the device was closed. Google has released a Chrome OS update that will resolve this issue.

If you encounter this issue, you should perform a hard reset and then update your Chrome OS to 112 or later to prevent it from happening again. Use the instructions below to perform a hard reset.

How to perform a hard reset

Turn off your Chromebook.
Press and hold Refresh ⟳ and tap Power .
When your Chromebook starts up, release Refresh ⟳.
Once your Chromebook is up and running, update your Operating System to version 112 or later. For instructions, refer to How to Update Your Chromebook Operating System.
