Limited International Travelers Warranty
Acer, i.e. the Acer company listed on www.acer.com with an address in the country where you purchased your eligible Acer Mobile Computing Product₁ (the “Product”) extends, in addition to the locally applicable Limited Warranty (“Local Warranty”), a Limited International Travelers Warranty (“Acer ITW”) subject to the following terms and conditions.
Where is the Acer ITW valid?
Acer ITW enables customers who travel with any eligible Product to receive warranty services in any country where their Product is sold and serviced. It applies only in countries outside the geographic area of coverage of your Local Warranty where ITW Service Centers are located. Who may claim under the Acer ITW?
During the Term (as defined below) of the Acer ITW, only “bona fide travelers” who are in possession of a copy of the original sales invoice of the Product may bring claims under this Acer ITW. For purposes of this Acer ITW, a “bona fide traveler” is a person temporarily present outside the territorial scope of the Local Warranty covering the respective Product without the intention of establishing a permanent residence in the Country where service is requested. Acer’s ITW Service Centers may require reasonable proof of residency to verify the bona fide traveler status of any claimant. Customers establishing a residence outside of the geographic area of validity of the Local Warranty covering their Product are encouraged to enter into a service agreement with a local Acer Service representative.
International Travelers Warranty Term
Acer ITW eligible Products can be serviced by Acer or Acer authorized service centers under the warranty terms wherever the specific Acer Product is sold and serviced. The length of the warranty is one (1) year from the date of purchase.
How to obtain the ITW service
If your Product qualifies for service under the Acer ITW, you are entitled to “carry-in service” at Acer’s ITW Service Centers. In such case you will be responsible for any shipping or transportation costs incurred to deliver the Product to the service location.
Warranty Limitations
Some services and/or parts may not be available in all countries. Acer or an Acer authorized service center may repair or replace the products or the parts with comparable Acer products or parts that comply with local standards. In the case where there is no comparable part available, you will need to bring the unit back to the country of purchase for servicing.
- The Acer ITW is limited to the Product and its AC adapter. It does not cover the replacement of the Product or its AC adapter. Service performed on accessory items is subject to charge and local availability.
- Any software that accompanies a Product is provided “as is”. Acer does not warrant that the operation of any or all of the software programs preloaded or added to the Product is uninterrupted or error free or that it will meet your requirements. The customer is responsible for providing the “Recovery and Software Back Up” disks to recover the hard disk if that is necessary.
- Acer will not be responsible for loss of data under any circumstances. Customers are advised to back up all data stored on the hard disk of their Product before bringing or shipping the Product for repair.
- Localized components (i.e. French language keyboards, modems designed for use in Japan etc.), will be serviced with parts conforming to the technical standards of the country where the ITW Service Centers performing the service is located. For example, if your Product is equipped with a U.S.-style keyboard, and you travel to China where your keyboard requires service, your U.S.-style keyboard will be replaced with a Chinese-style keyboard.
- Service procedures may vary by country, and some service and/or parts may not be available in all countries. Some countries may impose fees and restrictions that apply at the time of service. Certain countries may require additional documentation, such as proof of purchase or proof of proper importation, prior to performing ITW service.
- Certain ITW service locations may not have the capability of servicing all models.
- Any Product covered under this Acer ITW is guaranteed to be free from defects resulting from the use of faulty parts or poor workmanship during its manufacture, provided any resulting claims are made within the Term of this Acer ITW. If a defect of your Product is covered by Acer’s ITW, Acer will repair or replace any defective parts and correct any problems resulting from poor workmanship free of charge. Acer reserves the right to use reconditioned parts with performance parameters equal to those of new parts in connection with any services performed under the Acer ITW.
- For the avoidance of doubt, this Acer ITW does not entail a warranty of functionality or any obligation to repair or replace a defective Product if that defect is a result of ordinary wear and tear, physical breakage, improper installation or connections, external electrical faults, accidents, use under conditions other than normal working conditions, software-induced problems (e.g. virus attacks), abuse or modifications to the Product. Any service, repair, or replacement not within the scope of Acer’s ITW coverage shall be subject to the rates and terms of Acer’s ITW Service Center performing such services.
- Acer will continuously update the terms and conditions of ITW services and its applicable locations. Announcements of changes will be made via Acer’s website at http://www.acer.com/worldwide/support/itw.htm
EXCEPT FOR THE WARRANTIES SET FORTH HEREIN, ACER DISCLAIMS ALL OTHER WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED OR STATUTORY, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO THE IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY OR FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE. ANY IMPLIED WARRANTIES THAT MAY BE IMPOSED BY APPLICABLE LAW ARE LIMITED TO THE DURATION OF THIS LIMITED WARRANTY. IN NO EVENT SHALL ACER BE LIABLE FOR ANY INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO LOSS OF BUSINESS, PROFITS, DATA OR USE, WHETHER IN AN ACTION IN CONTRACT OR TORT OR BASED ON A WARRANTY, ARISING OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH THE USE OR PERFORMANCE OF THE PRODUCT OR ANY ACER SUPPLIED SOFTWARE WHICH ACCOMPANIES THE PRODUCT, EVEN IF ACER HAS BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES. YOU AGREE THAT REPAIR OR REPLACEMENT, AS
APPLICABLE, UNDER THE WARRANTY SERVICES DESCRIBED HEREIN ARE YOUR SOLE AND EXCLUSIVE REMEDIES WITH RESPECT TO ANY BREACH OF THE ACER LIMITED WARRANTY SET FORTH HEREIN.
Some states and jurisdictions do not allow limitations on how long an implied warranty lasts or the exclusion or limitation of incidental or consequential damages, so, depending on the jurisdiction you are in, the above limitation or exclusion may not (fully) apply to you. This warranty grants you specific legal rights, and you may also have other rights, which vary from jurisdiction to jurisdiction.
1. Call for Service Request
Acer Contact Center(s) will provide necessary services and support if you experience technical problems or when you have questions. Acer Contact Center(s) will also provide proper arrangement if your Product needs hardware inspection, at either Acer service center or at the nearest third party authorized service providers. Certain high spec models require color calibration after repair. This service is not available in every repair location, please contact your local Acer Service Centre for details. Before your trip, you are welcome to contact the Acer Contact Center of the original residence country to receive indications on how to obtain services in the country where you are travelling.
2. If you are already outside the country where you purchased your Product, contact the authorized International Travelers Warranty Service Location closest to you. Please have the following information ready when calling, faxing or visiting an Authorized International Travelers Warranty Service Location:
- Your Name / Local Address / Local contact phone number
- The Serial Number and Model of the Product
- Password to unlock the unit (if present/setup in the computer)
- Proof of purchase
- If you are aware of any modification/upgrades/additions and/or changes made to the product by a Service provider NOT authorized by Acer, please describe such modifications, otherwise they might be removed at the time of ITW Service
- Brief description of the symptoms
Privacy Policy
The legal privacy policy of the territory in which the ITW Service Center in which you have your eligible Acer Mobile Computing Product serviced, will apply and be strictly respected by Acer.
