Chrome OS Developer Mode allows you to have more control over Chrome OS. In developer mode, you can see Chrome OS advanced settings, install apps from sources other than the Google play store, or completely replace the operating system. Developer mode disables all built-in security features of the operating system so you should only enter developer mode if you are performing a specific task that requires it.

How to Enable Developer Mode on Chromebook
- Restart your Chromebook.
- Press and hold down Esc, Refresh and the Power Button while it starts up.
- Press Ctrl + D at the same time when you see the message “Chrome OS is missing or damaged. Please insert USB stick”.
- Press Enter when the OS verification pops up.
- Your Chromebook will restart and enter developer mode
- A screen will pop that says OS verification is off. Press Ctrl + D to enter developer mode.
- If you see the message below, you need to contact your device administrator as Developer Mode has been blocked.
How to Disable Developer Mode Chromebook
Disabling developer mode will erase all the data on your Chromebook, so be sure to back everything up.
- Restart your Chromebook.
- When the "OS verification is off" message pops up, press the space key.
- This will trigger a factory reset, wiping all data on your Chromebook.
