What should the voltage setting be on the power supply for my desktop computer?
The voltage setting on your power supply should be set to the correct voltage for the country in which you are using your computer. For North America, the correct setting will be 115V.
Warning: If the voltage on your computer is set incorrectly it can damage hardware components in the computer.
To select the voltage setting for your desktop computer, review the steps below.
- Turn off your desktop computer and unplug the power cable from the power supply.
- Locate the voltage selector switch, which will generally be located on your computers power supply. The voltage selector switch is designated by the orange circle in the below image.
- The voltage selector switch is recessed and can be toggled between 115V and 230V. Make your voltage selection.
Note: Power supplies without a voltage selector switch will be auto sensing and will automatically select the appropriate voltage level for your desktop computer.
