Useful tip for  solving overheating issues.
I was having terrible overheating issues with my Predator 15 G593. Either games were crashing or the laptop was freezing only after 10 minutes of playing almost any game on MINIMAL settings. The temperatures were reaching above 97C. Tried repasting, undervolting and changing the max processor state- didn't help.
Then I had an idea to modify the cooling system. Of course this would definitely void the warranty but since my laptop was already out of it I decided to try.
I had a bunch of copper pads and  small heatsinks for Raspberry PI lying around.

Also I had a larger but thin heatsink from another single board computer

I decided to attach the copper heatsinks and pads to the heatpipes using thermal glue. Then I removed the spring-loaded pushpins on the larger heatsink and glued it right over the GPU section of the heatpipes and heatpad using the same thermal glue.

This increased the surface area for effective heat dissipation and in combination with undervolting by -0.120, the peaking max temperature now is 88C while playing any game on ULTRA settings. The average temperature is around 70-80, and in the idle state - 47 for CPU and 43 for the GPU.
When doing the same pay attention to the pins under the back cover which apply additional pressure on the motherboard. Make sure that there is enough space under the cover for the heatpads and heatsink.
Hope this will help some of you fellas.

    But please note
THIS MODIFICATION WILL DEFINITELY VOID YOUR WARRANTY. I DO NOT BEAR ANY RESPONSIBILITY FOR ANY DAMAGE THAT YOU MAY DO TO YOUR LAPTOP.

CyberNetik if you mean to transfer data with the huawei suite you need a usb c data cable those usually come in the box with mobile i have 2  Mate 20 Pro please explain exactly what are you trying to do because as far as im aware u ca only transfer data and use it to project android screen to windows via wifi/bluetooth also this is not the correct thread if you have any issues please open a new thread for your particular issue and we only provide help regarding laptops issues not mobile phones if you have issues with your huawei please contact huawei support

Ps: i dont understand why you would need a jack connection as u can use bluetooth but it comes or should come with a usb c to audio jack adapter out of the box

CyberNetik give it a try to see if it gets recognised by the system or not there might be incompatibility issues like driver wise for if they dont work at all  i youll probably need a converter to usb 3.0 not really sure the best to answer this would be the headphones manufacturer itself as they have the info needed to meet the requirements good luck :)

Hi, I'm getting Helios 300 (2020) model very soon.
    Predator Helios 300 (PH315-53-77CF)  https://www.acer.com/ac/en/MY/content/predator-model/NH.Q7YSM.001
    *i7-10750H (2.60 GHz)
    *8GB (DDR4 SDRAM)
    *GeForce RTX™ 2060 (GDDR6)
I want to add another 8GB ram to make it 16GB ram in total. My question is, can I mix different ram with the ram that came with the laptop itself ? I'm gonna get 8GB Kingston HyperX Impact DDR4 2666Mhz. Is that okay ? Thanks

GhostaBocky personally i would advise you to forget the stock ram (as its oem manufacturers proprietary not easy to exacly match another sodimm unless you buy used from someone else as its not available for consumers) either keep it or sell it and get a proper dual channel set either hyperx or vengeance never mix ram with different sizes/clock/CL good luck :)

This Sticky goes for Intel 7th and 8th Gen laptops. AMD will be added in the future.

    Latest Fix:

Intel 8th Gen: BIOS 1.15 has been released to fix the screen flickering on the Intel 8th Generation laptop.

    1. Common Information (CPU, GPU, Temperature Specifics)

    Temperatures & Solutions

If temperatures reach the following (under intense situations), these are your options:

97-100C (Throttling below base clock speed)

    • Contact Acer for repair (they will re-paste your CPU/GPU)
    • Re-paste your CPU and GPU yourself (not advisable due to warranty complications)

90-96C (CPU turns off Turbo at 90C)

    • Using Predator Sense, turn fans to max speed
    • Undervolt the CPU (guide below)
    • Purchase a laptop cooling pad (paid less than $15)
    • Limit the CPU performance via Windows Battery Options
    • Re-paste your CPU and GPU yourself (not advisable due to warranty complications)

    ~89C

    • If temperatures never go above 89C, you do not have to worry about CPU throttling.

    Thermal Pasting Guide

(I suggest sending it to Acer support first.)

If you are encountering high temperatures and would like to re-paste your CPU yourself, read below.

    *Note*
Re-pasting your CPU will void warranty if you damage something, so proceed at your own risk.

    GPU Temperature Information

It seems that it is rarely the GPU that is the problem when it comes to overheating in these laptops. However, the GPU still has some limits that you should keep your eye on.

We only have estimations for the GPU limits from feedback on the forum. It seems that the GPU will near maximum, or maximum performance so long as the temperatures stay below 80C. If temperatures are above this number, these are what can be done:

    • Using Predator Sense, turn fans on max speed
    • Turn down game settings (only temporary/crappy solution, skip to next)
    • Re-paste the CPU and GPU (either via Acer Support or yourself)

    2. FPS Drops/Lag

    Desktop Right-Click Lag

This problem is generally caused by the Intel Graphics Control Panel Desktop Context Menu option. To fix this, we will need to disable the Intel Graphics Control Panel in the desktop context menu. If you have already tried updating the Intel drivers via Device manager or installing the drivers from Acer's web site, follow these steps.

    Steps:
    1. The easiest way to disable this is using the program 'ShellExView' that be found at: http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/shexview.html
    2. After downloading and launching the program, you will need to find the two items to disable. These both are under the Extension Name 'TheDesktopContextMenu Class' with the description 'igfxDTCM Mod' as shown in the screen shot.
    3. Disable these two items.
    4. Restart your computer.
    5. Give feedback to let us know if this solved the problem.

    Possible FPS Drop Solutions

These are solutions you can do to either: stop FPS drops, or improve FPS/Performance. Do one step and test until your FPS drops stop.
Post below which step fixed the FPS drops.
    1. Go to Windows Settings > Gaming, and disable Game bar, Game DVR, and Game Mode.
    2. Update NVIDIA Drivers, and Uninstall GeForce Experience.
    3. Update your BIOS to the latest version.
    4. Update the Intel Graphics adapters to latest by: right-clicking the start menu, opening Device Menu, expand Display Drivers, and right-click the Intel(R) HD and update drivers.
    5. Uninstall any 3rd-party screen recording/overlay software.
    6. Uninstall any 3rd-party anti-virus software (e.g. Norton, McAfee, etc.) or cleaning/monitoring software (e.g. CCleaner, Glary Utilities, etc.)

    Windows Update Caused Crashing

It has been found that when Windows 10 updates, it installs the latest drivers in the Windows Update Database. These drivers seems to be causing some issues.

A possible fix is reinstalling all drivers from Acer's web sitefor your device.

    Windows Update Failure

The biggest reason Windows updates fail is due to an anti-virus. If your laptop fails to update. Uninstall any anti-virus you have on your machine, and retry the update.

    3. Battery Gaming

It is not advisable to game while on battery for multiple reasons:

    • Laptop is self-throttled;
    • Degradation of battery;
    • Poor game play.
The battery throttle settings can be found/changed in the GeForce Experience Settings. As stated above, it is not advisable to game on battery.

    4. Predator Sense Information & Overclocking

Predator Sense has a habit of not working correctly with the new updates to Windows 10. There are some things that you can try to get Predator Sense working again.
    1. Uninstall Predator Sense, restart your laptop, and reinstall Predator Sense from your laptop's support page.
    2. Right-click the Predator Sense icon and run the 'Compatibility troubleshooter.'
    3. Uninstall or shut down MSI Afterburner if installed.
    4. Try re-enabling hibernation/hyberfil.sys if you disabled it when GPU shows idle when being used.

@Red-Sand has found a way to enable the overclocking feature on the G3-571.

    ***Warning***
Will cause the laptop to run hotter. Do so at your own risk.

You can follow the video to manually enable this, or you can download the zip file from the description and go as follows:
    1. Download file
    2. Unzip contents
    3. Run preferred .bat file as administrator
    4. Restart Predator Sense

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O5FFCug83Ko

    *SUBSCRIBE*

I will explain further. What this does is change the device that Predator Sense reads in the registry. Red-Sand uses the PH317 in his video. The batch file I created uses the G3-572. Both work.

    5. Sound Modifications (EqualizerAPO)

    EqualizerAPO

-*-WARNING - READ BEFORE CHANGING PREAMP-*-
Always keep volume at middle range (50%) when changing the Preamp, as high Preamp could damage your speakers, headphones, earbuds and/or ears. By default, the Preamp is lowered to -3. Increasing it until +3 is relatively safe but be cautious of increasing it more than that without taking the previous precautions mentioned. High Preamp may also distort sound quality.

-*-The drivers must be reinstalled after every major Windows update.-*-

This is the first posting. Details and screenshots will be added and refined in the future. We will be able to post our own equalizer profiles for best audio settings as well, as we mess with it. The settings are stores in *\EqualizerAPO\config\config.txt.

    Basic Device Setup:

    1. Make sure the audio device you want to use/modify/test is connected.
    2. Download Equalizer APO
    a. https://sourceforge.net/projects/equalizerapo/
    3. During installation, I set the location to C:\EqualizerAPO because they do not give you desktop shortcuts.
    4. After the installation, you will be prompted for which audio devices you wish to use Equalizer APO for. You can choose one, or all. This can be changed later.
    5. When you choose the device(s), it may require a restart, and all Windows will disappear.
    6. Configuration:
    a. To modify the equalizer and Preamp settings, launch C:\EqualizerAPO\Editor.exe
    b. To change what devices use Equalizer, launch C:\EqualizerAPO\Configurator.exe

    Laptop Speakers (includes headphone jack):

I had some difficulty getting it to change my Helios 300 (G3-571) speakers, but I found out how. Follow below:

    1. After Equalizer APO installs, open the Configuration.exe.
    2. Highlight Speakers, and check the 'Troubleshooting options' button.
    3. Uncheck both 'Use original APO' buttons, and change Install as to 'Install as SFX/EFX (experimental)'
    4. Restart and it should work.
    5. Feedback is appreciated.

    Questions, please let me know.

Frequency Table (to help with tweaking the equalizer):

    Sub-Bass - 62Hz and lower
    Mid-Bass - 62-125Hz
    Upper-Bass - 125-250Hz

    Lower-Mid - 250-500Hz
    Middle-Mid - 500-1kHz
    Upper-Mid - 1k-2kHz

    Lower-Treble - 2k-4kHz
    Middle-Treble - 4k-8kHz
    Upper-Treble - 8kHz and higher

    6. Meltdown, Spectre, and Intel ME Vulnerability Information

There are 3 major vulnerabilities that affect our Intel laptops and I will post some information about these issues.

    Acer Meltdown/Spectre Link

    Meltdown
    • On Intel CPUs and any CPU with Speculative Execution (Apple CPUs)
    • Meltdown is probably the most serious of the three vulnerabilities. It allows processes to bypass security checks and execute code/read data stored in the CPU's memory.
    • Fix: Microsoft Windows patch KB4056892 (OS Build 16299.192 on Windows 10 Version 1709 or later)
    • Running Windows without this patch makes your system vulnerable to Meltdown (and some of Spectre).
    • To check if you have this update, navigate to Settings > Update & Security > View installed update history.
    • *Note* Some Anti-virus can conflict with the update.
    • Refer to Microsoft for more specifics: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4056892

    Spectre
    • 99% of CPUs suffer from this vulnerability. Unlike Meltdown, AMD and mobile CPUs are included.
    • Refer to Meltdown for getting the patch in Windows.
    • BIOS updates mitigate vulnerabilities with Spectre.

Hi and thank you for all the information - having in 1 place is great.
I have the i7-9750H version acer predator pt315-51 and was wondering if you would be adding information about this model. I am looking for a reason/solutionwhy the fan speed will increase and then stay high. I found a way to rest the speed by switching on Coolboost and off again. Anyway not a topic for here.

My Predator PH3 15-53 having a Zero RPM fans CPU and GPU on AUTO FAN MODE when I boot the laptop or when it's in sleep mode then wake up it takes like 30 or 40 seconds for the fans to run which just happed and noticed it today .. the only thing I did was changing the Max processor state to 99% to stop the turbo boost of the CPU to lower its temperature

    any help

Hi! I bought an Acer Predator Triton 500 PT515-52-739C. Temps were around 90-93C degrees during gaming, so I repasted it using MX4. I do not see huge difference. Still throttling, max temp is around 90-92C degrees. What do you think? Installation method wasn’t proper?

Another question: Some say that warranty won’t be void after repasting. Can someone confirm it? I haven’t broken anything inside the laptop.

Hey guys I wanted to ask what would be better to solve overheating issues - Getting a cooling pad or applying a thermal repaste? Or if I should do both what should I go for first

Hi, I'm another one with newly appearing heat issues. My CPU goes over 90 degrees Celsius when gaming, and sometimes over 80 or even 90 when performing some low-demanding tasks, e.g. right now writing this the CPU is 91 degrees. Undervolting didn't help, repasting - honestly I'm wondering if I'm capable of doing it myself and the shop says I shouldn't open the laptop at all to be sure not to void the warranty. Any other ideas than to claim the warranty? (which means re-installing everything to an old computer and then back etc...)

I found a solution to keep temps even while gaming under 75 degrees.

    1. Windows search > Edit Power plan > Change advance power settings > Processor power management > Maximum processor state > Make them 99%

    2. Use a laptop stand or something to lift it above ground.

    3. Make sure nee bios is installed
    https://www.acer.com/ac/en/IN/content/drivers

After doing this, my laptop temp stays below 75 degrees.

What this does is, it won't let your cpu overclock to 4GHz, which keeps temps way down.

I've had a post on this upcoming question but seems like none read it
so I hope u guys help me out here

I set a custom fan speed of 2500 rpm GPU and CPU, because above 3000 rpm is very loud, but when I play league of legends, or even a lighter game it goes above 3000 rpm ignoring my custom setting, as if its set to auto. Why does this happen? I don't care about slightly hotter temperatures...

If ur cpu is going over 90 C just like that then you might need to repaste because it means that the connection between the thermal paste and CPU is non-existent. It could also mean that something is eating up your CPU in the background so just check CPU usage. while gaming thats normal though. if u have low CPU usage and high temps then something is definitely wrong and its most probably the thermal paste. Undervolting is a must, and thermal paste is the second step to change for better temps. Most important is good airflow which just means elevating the laptop and making sure nothing is obstructing it.
As for fans not spinning thats fine. they dont need to always spin, esp if u have CPU usage at 99% which is turbo off. If you have high temps AND fans not spinning then thats a problem.
@MohamedMagdy Fans ignoring your settings is obviously to be more efficient at cooling. The only solutions here would be disabling turbo boost, turning cooling into passive in power settings and turning of coolboost. Apart from that not much u can do because then its not safe for the laptop. also keeping temps lower generally will help but if ur laptop is touching 90C ofc your fans will ramp up.

Also guys repasting is not that technical and difficult. just need to consult a guide, open the laptop, remove heatsink, apply paste and put it all back up together. a repasting done with good paste properly really helps. If ur hitting high temps after repasting then its possible you didnt do it properly. too little thermal paste is bad, so is too much though. Also very important is when you are tightening down the screws you dont overtighten from one end. the heatsink screws will be labelled just gently put all the screws in first then slightly tighten them one by one, in my 2017 laptop i was making the mistake of overtightening the first screw while putting it back together and that would cause the thermal paste to ooze out from the other side and this make bad contact. that would make some of my cores jump to way higher temps (uneven) and eventually higher temps. all screws need to be tightened equally for even pressure. and not too tight (in my case atleast) just enough to make contact.

How do I stop applications from running on the GPU? The Fan noise is driving me insane.

Unfortunately we know that most Gamer Notebooks have temperature issues with the factory settings which is absurd. As we have to live with this, the best way to solve the problem is to undervolt and underclock.

In the image below I made a comparison between two settings in Fortnite.
Default: CPU clock with no restriction running at ~3.9GHz and average temp 90º, GPU core clock ~1.6GHz and average temp 72º.
Custom: CPU clock limited to 3.5GHz and average temp 68º, GPU clock limited to 1.4GHz and voltage limited to 0.7v and average temp 62º.

Regarding performance, the difference is almost imperceptible, but the gain in temperature reduction is absurd.
