    what's your actual BIOS version?

    keep in mind this:

How can i understand which version i need to download?

     Desktop versions:
P01.xx can only be updated using P01.xx versions
P11.xx can only be updated using P11.xx versions (normally P11.xx version are labeled "*not for upgrades")

"L" BIOS versions are Linux OS dedicated (example P01.xxL)

    * what does it mean "not for upgrades"?
During the windows 7 to 8 transition, some PC models had different BIOS versions from factory, related to the installed OS.
Windows 8 PC got an UEFI BIOS
Windows 7 PC got a "Legacy" BIOS

So PC with Windows 7 installed from factory can't use the "not for upgrades" BIOS version, even if they were upgraded to Windows 8 or 10, since the factory BIOS was a different version compared to PC with Windows 8 from factory.

Did you upgrade to the A2 BIOS as suggested in the thread?

Not yet, might try to do this today for the first time. Do you know the safest way to upgrade BIOS? Because I read online if you messed up you could brick the whole motherboard.

You should contact acer support directly and verify if you can update to p21-a4so --- which is for M4620G in the meltdown/spectre page. As this is a security patch that can only be done via bios, you can escalate your call until you can find a live person who can verify it.

I am 90% certain that you can apply the update as M4620 and M4620G share the same bios.

I find it easiest to update from Windows. Extract the archive and read the docs... IIRC you open the WIN folder and execute a batch file.

Yeah, I also didn't thought upgrading the bios that fast and easy lol, literally takes only 2 minutes with restarting and boom its done.

Yeah, when everything works as it should it's easy... It's when something doesn't work right that we typically end up spending a lot of time to fix. :)

Download your correct bios file then expand and go into the appendix file and view the UCP BIOS Update SOP for Windows v1.0 file for complete instructions.

Here is a file but not necessarily the one for your computer.
