  • Can you send a capture from the original memory, showing the settings on the cpuz? It is possible that your model accepts only ddr3L:

    Yep, it's enough.

As per the info @egydiocoelho posted, your machine supports a maximum of 16GB and has 2 sockets. Your processor supports DDR3L @ 1600MHz or 1333MHz, otherwise known as PC3L-12800 and PC3L-10600 respectively, and right now you have 1 stick wtih 4GB of DDR3L 1600MHz installed (disregard the 800MHz stated there, it's just half of the speed the memory is rated at, the first D of DDR stands for Double).

Were you looking for DDR3L 800MHz? It would be understandable not being able to find it, look for 1600 or 1333 instead, it's still quite common.

Upgrading to 8GB or even 16GB is certainly possible, you can buy another 4GB stick like the one you have. Note the timings shown in that table and try to get one as close as possible if identical isn't available, sometimes they don't specify all of the timings but at least the CAS latency should be present (CL 11).

There was another user who ran into compatibility problems using RAM from different manufacturers, it worked fine in the end though, but it was a different laptop. Ideally one would get matching sticks (they sell them in pairs already), but sometimes it's not possible.

Thanks a lot.. your valuable information :) ..

I will purchase from same manufacture Kingston 8GB 1600mhz.  So it become 4+8 = 12.

  • Yes, but it will work in flexible mode, that is, 8gb will work in dual channel and the other 4gb will work in single channel.
