hi, i just want to know if i can upgrade my laptop processor
Acer Aspire E1-471 with i3-2348m processor
S/N: NXM0QSP007321179477600
SNID: 32109658376
Mobo model: ZQSA (DAZQSAMB6F1 Rev F)
BIOS: V1.29
CHIPSET: HM77
I want to upgrade it to i5-3340m..., if not possible with this processor, can you give me a list of other i5-3rd gen processor that compatible with this model. Please see attached pictures for your reference., Thank you

I should be possible, but because I can't actually test it take it with a grain of salt.

    Some checklist:
    • Does the chipset support it?
      Yes
    • Are they PGA and do they come in the same package?
Yes, socket 988B. There are BGA options for those processors though, if the reported info on CPU-Z were wrong then you wouldn't be able to upgrade that easily.
    • Memory controller, do they support a common memory format?
Yes, they have DDR3 1333MHz in common. Per spec, that 3rd gen i5 doesn't like 1066MHz memory in case that's what you have, and it also supports DDR3L which is pin compatible with DDR3 (supports being powered at DDR3 voltages, in case you'd need to upgrade and DDR3L comes cheaper).
    • Do they use the same bus technology and at the same speed?
      Yep.
    • They're also rated for the same TDP, 35W, so the cooling solution of your laptop would be able to cool the new part too.
I don't see any showstopper, I wonder whether there is a lock or whitelist of processors in the firmware of the machine, but it checks out in paper (I'd go for it).

thank you aphanic, just a few more question bcoz i got a little confused when i read the service manual of e1-471 same as e1-431 at manualslib and saw that cpu package is 989-pin rPGA (please see attached pics) but we r pretty sure that my i3-2348m is rPGA988B (G2), by the way the mobo supports the 1600mhz memory module, also i found on youtube that another user of e1-431, same as e1-471, succesfully upgrade his procie to i5-3210m...i think we have the same mainboard, please see attached pics,,,,,tia
