Adapter for strange HDMI port on my G277HLABID monitor?

I've had this monitor a few years now and have only used the VGA and DVI ports. Now I need to use the HDMI port, but it's not a normal type. See the photo attached. Neither a regular nor a mini male HDMI connector will fit into this port? What type of HDMI port is it and what sort of adapter do I need to plug a regular HDMI cable into it?

That should be a standard HDMI port with the locking bracket that some cables support. A standard HDMI cable should fit though.

But it's not and it doesn't. Take a look at a regular HDMI cable. It has a horizontal slot in the middle with pins above and below. That slot has to fit around a horizontal tab with matching pins. This port doesn't have a horizontal slot or tab, only a whole bunch little slots/holes. What's more, a regular hdmi cable connector is too wide to even fit inside this port.  Thanks for trying to help, but did you even look at my photo?

I'm mystified by it as well. My monitor is very similar to the one in the picture you posted. Shinier back and that weird port, but otherwise same looking shape and stand. Here's a photo with the model/serial number info. I guess I just have to live with VGA or DVI.

I wonder if the "x" makes a difference? You originally said it was a G277HL abid, I wonder if the abidx was a special they did for some customer or vendor?

Wouldn't be shocked. I got a great deal on it a few years ago via their refurbished channel. I've been quite happy with it. Never thought to look at the HDMI port before now. Wish I had a way to get someone at ACER's attention, but of course it's out of warranty so difficult to get their attention. Googling around hasn't helped me figure anything out yet. It can't be the only port of that type in the universe though.

Yeah, I can't see anything in the service guide that doesn't show a stock HDMI port...

Thanks for responding. It's almost like what's there had some piece of the stock port fall off. Seems like I can buy an $8 HDMI to DVI cable on Amazon if I really need to get an HDMI output to display.  I paid $134 for the monitor in 2016 on EBay shipped direct from Acer via an EBay recertified channel they used to run. Been very happy with it until now.  Still happy with it, so can't really complain. Just was hoping somebody here might have bumped into this before. Thanks for trying to help!
