So I recently bought an acer nitro 5 (Model: AN515-42-R5ED) And I want to be able to run and export with my video editor that I use on it.  I am not entirely sure if I can install more than the base 8Gb Ram installation but I don't want to risk buying RAM installations that I can't use.  I need around 24Gb Ram, (16 Base RAM with 8Gb VRAM).  Does anybody have a suggestion?

Some Laptop Information:
AMD Ryzen 5 CPU
Radeon RX 560x GPU
Windows 10 Home Basic
Currently 8Gb RAM
500Gb SSD Installed

Yes you can upgrade, maximum ram memory support upto 30GB.

Before buying check your current ram speed in task manager and cpu Z.
If you buy higher frequency ram stick then speed will down to current ram frequency(maximum frequency supported by your motherboard)

    And in additional
I do NOT recommend using two ram sticks of different sizes. Waste of money
If you want best ram performance then make sure
1)Both ram sticks to be of equal size
    2) Both ram sticks to be of equal voltage
    3) Both ram sticks to be of equal CL (cas latency)
    4) equal mhz DDR4 ram sticks
