Add me to the list of those whose camera doesn't work.  I've used it before although it's been a while, but it's not working now - right in the middle of the Covid lockdown :-(

Have gone into Device Manager.  Under 'Camera' it lists 'HD webcam'.  I've checked the drivers which are apparently up to date.

In Settings, apps are allowed to access my camera.

    Here is my error message:

Really important to be able to connect to people face to face at a time like this.

As an update, I use Windows 10 and the Windows Camera App is working fine with the built-in Acer webcam (click the windows icon in your system tray then type in Camera App if you don't know where the app is).  So I know the web-cam is working, it's just not working with Acer's Crystal Eye software.

I'm having a similar problem with the camera.
    - Settings: all apps are able to use it
    - Device Manager: USB Boot working properly, latest driver already installed. Also thrown away and re-install by rebooting.
    - Camera app: 0xA00F4271<MediaCaptureFailedEvent> (0x80070018)
    - Windows Hello: We couldn't find a camera compatible with Windows Hello Face
    - DxDiag (nice feature, thanks!): Everything looks fine to me!?
    Thanks for any help!
i have same error. if you find any solution can you text me

I have exactly the same problem. There is obviously a camera there as I have had a couple of moments of streaky vision from it, but then it reverts to a black screen. There has been a couple of odd msgs saying the antivirus software is interrupting it. If anyone finds a solution it would be great.

When your camera isn't working in Windows 10, it might be missing drivers after a recent update. It's also possible that your anti-virus program is blocking the camera or your privacy settings don't allow camera access for some apps.

Click on link bellow for further troubleshooting that might help fix the camera issue.

    Dear Acer-Karp,

I'm glad you're willing to help us. I posted my camera diagnostics on March 18. The Windows Camera app does not work: 0xA00F4271<MediaCaptureFailedEvent> (0x80070018)

I just followed all the steps mentioned on the Microsoft Support page, just to the point where it says: "If your camera still doesn’t work, look for help on the camera manufacturer’s website." So I'm hoping that Acer may step in and help me (and the others here who suffer from the same error.

Could Acer please create a new driver for us?

My current driver is 10.0.18362.815. There are no updates, and there is no possibility for a roll-back. More details in my earlier post here: https://community.acer.com/en/discussion/comment/807115#Comment_807115

    Kind regards,
    Rob

    Hello
I have an ACER Aspire F5-571-320G, circa 2 years old.
Camera stopped working, so cannot use Skype, Zoom, etc. Have tried app permissions and firewall. All are ok. running DxDiag the system information shows me:
    Video Capture Devices
    Number of Devices: 0

Acer - please respond as many of us have the same problem and you are not providing the solution. Where/ how can we reinstall video capture devices?

    frustrated user :(
I spent hours on this same issue on a Aspire E5-571P and would like to share how I fixed it.  After exhausting every software approach in this forum, I ran my hand around the monitor and noticed a lot of heat radiating from the upper left of the laptop screen.  I pulled off the bezel and the coating on the wire leading to the camera was very brittle and flaked away exposing a short.  I wrapped the wire with electrical tape and the camera came back to life.

I recommend this for anyone with the following symptoms:
    1. Your camera does not appear in device manager - anywhere
    2. You notice or recall heat radiating from around the top or left side of the monitor.

This image is looking down directly above the camera behind the monitor bezel.  The loop in the wire was exactly how I found it which I think makes it susceptible to a short.  I have since wrapped the exposed wire in electrical tape (using tweezers!) and problem solved.
