Hi,
I just bought an A315-55G  which I'd like to upgrade the memory and maybe the internal storage. I gather I'll need to pull out the non soldered 4GB memory but before I start randomly unscrewing stuff is there a manual showing the repair/upgrade process?

I'd also like to know the drive situation. The ACER website shows what I think is a SATA SSD of 256 GB. Does that mean there isn't a spot for a 2.5 HD?

Thanks

    This model supports a maximum of 32GB of RAM (having 2 slots of which 16GB each) So-DIMM DDR4 2133 / 2400Mhz

The service handle is not available to the end user.
For installation, you will have to completely remove the back cover with the aid of a technical spatula.
You must remove the 10 screws that hold it.
Remember that you should check with Acer of your locality as in some countries this procedure violates the warranty.

  • Hi,
You can use this video as a guide, you may have to buy the bracket and cable for installing HDD, if you have a warranty warning sticker on top of any screws at the bottom cover, you have to contact Acer Support centre in your region and get the upgrade done by them.

Thanks. I thought this model had 4GB soldered to the board and 4GB removable. Hopefully you're right and both banks can be removed

    Hi,
It's a printing error, you have 4GB on-board memory and a slot for upgrade, you can install a16GB module to make a total of 20GB maximum memory in your model.

For those following along at home. When I opened it there was one slot with an 8GB DIMM and nothing else. Swapped in an old 16 from my more or less dead machine and I'm now at 16.

Still have to think about the drive.

Like always I manage to not get one screw back on but nobody but me will notice
