My last comment vanished, something about needing review when I hit edit to fix a typo. In any case: I am able to reproduce with a 2014 macbook pro via HDMI using the forest image.

For overdrive: using the forest image I was able to get the scanlines with overdrive set to off. Normally with overdrive off the blurring/smearing seems to fix lots of movement based flickers.
Strange. What are you using on your Mac to view the image? I'm opening with Preview in full-screen and selecting View --> Actual Size.

So I played SWBF2 last night in HDR. Played a map with fog.... Holy scanlines and flicker. It was the worst I’ve exp yet with this issue. Funny thing is, when you ads/zoom the scanlines and flicker disappear. I tried fiddling with the overdrive which didn’t do much. It mimics the same behavior that image someone posted on this thread.

Those trees will have scanlines when fill screen. Zoom in a little the scanlines disappear. Also when that image was full screen using the OSD menu and selecting “audio” made the screen flicker like crazy. Don’t ask my why, just did.

My x35 is boxed up and ready to be returned later today. I hope all of you get an answer to these issues. I’m bummed tbh.

    Good luck all.

Have you looked at my videos Ive took of resident evil 2 remake on youtube? It shows you how to get the flicker to show in most games. Its blatently an issue. Its clear flickering in certain highly lit scenes with smoke/volumentrics. An issue is an issue; it doesnt matter how sensitive to the issue you are or even if you are fully concious to it, you might not even be noticing it but it still might be stressing your head and eyes out in the background making you tired. Its not supposed to flicker they have advetised this in three different places, they have highly designed electronics to ensure that flickering does not happen at different voltages/currents, and flicker in the range of even at 400hz would be picked up and seen as a fault. This flicker is able to be seen at 80fps plus. You keep infering people that do see this flicker are not seeing an issue. But overwelming evidence would show that they almost certainly are seeing an issue. We have all bought this very expensive monitor. You need to just play a HDR title for a while around smokey enviroments with overdrive on extreme. Sometimes 50% of the frames have either flicker or lines. Im actively trying to ignore them. Reviews have stated the issue, people have went into shops and seen the issue, people on here have captured the issue. Its indesputable and incontravertably an issue. Theres been no denying that it is an issue from acer and theyve had ample time to do so. Contary; Theyve said they can reproduce the issue. If you keep telling people on here the issue they are having is not an issue they will get frustraighted and this will carry over in thier responses and its obvious this is what it going on here.
Thankyou! people need to stop saying that this isnt the monitor's fault. Its very clear in my video:

The scanlines break the image apart and are very very clear. I have used multiple g-sync monitors and never expirienced this on PG279Q, PG27UQ, LG27GL850.

FYI i have an Asus PG35VQ, Asus forums are dead so i am just making posts here.

Also My issue seems to persist even with overdrive off and FALD off. It happens with HDMI input as well, Just make sure the monitor is using refresh rate higher than 60hz.

The scanlines are so clear here:
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fvTXhnakPZo

It makes the monitor look like a CRT .

The scanlines are also visible on this mountain image:
    https://t.co/qyu8Ir0p88?amp=1

I cant seem to get scanlines with the forest img, may be I downloaded the wrong one..

On my x35, when I open this picture, it's flickering with contrast 46 (overdrive Normal). With contrast more than 46- just scanlines, with contrast 45 and below no flickering or scanlines.

It flickers even at 0 contrast on my PG35VQ :( max contrast flickers too, Normal overdrive. 144hz

you may have to play with zoom in and out of the img to make the scanlines appear after you change contrast. Try it with below 46, they will be back!

Also you have to close the OSD for scanlines/flicker to show up. You move the image after closing the osd and try different zoom levels.

I sorted out why I wasn't seeing scan lines using the Mac. I was using the monitor as a second screen with my MacBook Pro. When I closed the lid of the laptop, the scan lines showed up. I guess the X35 was matching some lower setting of the MacBook screen when the lid was open. I've just returned from UPS, and the X35 is on the way back to Amazon. I'm really disappointed in the lack of communication from Acer. This was my first Acer product and will likely be my last.

BTW if you guys want more attention you gotta be on social media and post there. Forums wont help us. Asus has been tweeting about this monitor, just post your flickering videos and comments there. Companies dont like bad PR on Social media.

    ROG Global:

    ROG:

Just make a twitter account, its worth it to get our problems solved.

We might get some answers if their social media gets flooded.

I received my replacement PG35VQ yesterday, guess what......this one has exactly the same flickering. You would think that they would at least check for flickering before they sent it out to replace a screen that was flickering!
I can replicate the fault 100% of the time in PUBG.
On a positive note though, this one has a lot less black smearing. Still no good for gaming with the screen flickering.

I have asked PC monitors about this issue : Steam downloading bars flickering.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3u1CoV--HvI&lc=z23bhpvhxnbhyt5ejacdp43a0s43ovsi4caxyfqbfw5w03c010c

Apparently it is normal because its the slow pixel response rate thats causing the steam flickering. So even if The bigger scanline/flickering issue is fixed I dont think the slow pixel flickering would ever go away...

can anyone with another VA monitor confirm this ? does your steam downloading speed bar flicker when you move the window ?

i posted this on reddit but no one seems to actually test it. It happens with FALD off FYI. I dont see this on my LG IPS monitor.

So its prolly the slow pixel response that is causing flickering in Witcher 3... and it would still occur even after a fix.

but anyone with a different VA model could test the steam thing from my video we would certainly know if its VA related of jus an issue on this.

It's okay that download bar flickering, it's happen on my old Benq too. Not okay when all screen flickering, like in Witcher 3 or RE2 Remake. I tried to work in 3dsMax today, it's just impossible https://youtu.be/2uSarS8FlXk
It's default "Graphics" setting. Tried 60hz, overdrive "off" and "extreme", nothing help.

No comment from Acer, I've messaged multiple times asking when they will sell them on their own store, and I get no replies. Pretty poor customer service TBH

Seriously for all those who are having these issues with flickering why don’t you all pack your monitors up and send them back to the retailer free post and receive a refund. That’s what I would do. My monitor by has yet to show any scan lines, flickering, call it what you will.  So far so good.

@kot0005 And even the steam download bar did not throw up any flickering or anything on my X35 try setting your contrast to 45  as that is what my contrast is set at and I have zero flickering I see Nvidia have dropped driver version  436.48 maybe that will help ALSO.

May be you didnt read my  posts ?!? i tried every setting already.. this is not driver related since flickering happens without a signal to the monitor.

Can you make a video of the steam download bars not flickering and same with witcher 3 for proof ?  also whats the point in using your 45 contrast when the default setting is actually what you should be using as its factory calibrated for accuracy..
