I had recently bought a acer predator i5 8th gen.My laptop was having overheating issues so I tweaked some videos and applied as they did.
Now my temperature is completely normal with no throttling but I am scared that are these safe??
I used Intel XTU and I changes two values:
1. Changed the values of core voltage offset from 0.000V to -0.120V
2. Turbo boost power max from 45W to 15W.
It resulted in normal performance while gaming, but is it safe and please explain me how these things work?

Your values are within safe limits. Mine has been with -125 for CPU for over an year now.

I have managed to change things according to my usage. One more thing to ask is can I set my maximum core frequency in throttlestop??For eg.if my normal frequnecy range is 2.2 Hz and its 3.8 when turbo so can I set it to 3.0 or something??

    Thanks @xapim @sri369 @egydiocoelho for replying.

As long as you are within the max limits, you are good.

Ok I understood that it can be done but how to do it??I think so it can be achieved using throttlestop and if yes then how and if no what should I use to achieve???
  • 15w power limit is a serious bottleneck to the CPU clock speeds..
If your system is running OK then you're not playing any heavy games.

I suggest keeping in mind this change as it will absolutely effect AAA titles performances in the future if you end up playing any.
