so my Acer Chromebook with a touchscreen completely froze and I have no idea what to do. I tried to shut it off but it won't work. Apparently, you can see the mouse in certain places but when you click on something it doesn't work or react... none of the keys work either. refresh, backspace, search-nothing, nada. PLEEAAAAASSSE help me out. I don't know what to do and under circumstances, I have limited time.

    Hi,
Try to hold the refresh key and power button. To turn off the chromebook, then try to on as usual. This might work.

Most devices will respond to a long hold (10-15 seconds) on the power button. If out of warranty then I have removed the battery before - look for a U-tube on your model about replacing the CMOS and main batteries.

Hi, kindly try the below 2 methods once the unit is completely turned off.

    Hard Reset
    *************
     1.Turn off your Chromebook.
2.Press Refresh + Power for 15 to 20 secs with all the cables unplugged. Then try to turn on the unit and check.

    Power wash
    *************
Use the following steps to restore the Chrome OS:

    1) Turn off your Chromebook.
    2) Press and hold down the Esc key and refresh (the 4th key in the first row of the keyboard) key and then press the power button to turn on the Chromebook while you are still holding the Esc and the refresh keys.
    3) The Chromebook will boot to Developer Mode. Press Ctrl + D to turn off OS verification.
    4) When prompted to turn OS verification off, press Enter and the Chromebook will restart.
    5) At the OS verification is OFF screen, do not press the spacebar when prompted. The recovery process will start automatically after approximately 15 seconds.
    6) The restore process takes about 5 minutes. A progress bar appears at the top of the screen.
    7) The Chromebook restarts and prompts to re-enable verification. Now press the spacebar.
    8) Press Enter to confirm that you wish to turn OS verification on.
    9) OS verification is back on and Chromebook reboots automatically.
    10) The "Welcome!" screen will be displayed and you can complete the on screen instructions.
Your Chromebook is now set to factory default settings.
