Use a thin object to give a little push to the fan if it is indeed not spinning and it isn't just the software displaying it wrong.
Always post the following characterisitcs of the device:
    -Model number
    -Part number(not required, but helpful)
    -CPU
    -GPU
    -Operating system

Helios 300 and Nitro 5 users DO NOT update the BIOS to version 1.22 if you don't want the keyboard's backlight to turn off after 30 seconds even when the device is plugged in.

You can try resetting the battery just in case:

If that doesn't help you should contact Acer if the device has warranty.

I just had this issue. I took my fan out to clean it and found a stray piece of plastic stuck it in which had stopped the fan moving. Removed it and now it works fine. If you are still in warranty you might want to avoid taking it apart but otherwise might be worth a look.
