Both USB ports on the right side of my laptop are now non-functional.  Ordered the official replacement parts.  This seems like a straightforward fix...would anyone recommend me not doing it on my own?  Youtube videos for other laptops make it seem fairly easy.

I see... so its the complete PCB piece. Ribbons like that generally soft pull-able. Try lifting that metal bar across gently on both the sides - very gently. That seems to be the lock holding the USB connector cable.

It totally depends on you. If you are confident that you are able disassemble the device and replace the part yourself, then why not.
Always post the following characterisitcs of the device:
    -Model number
    -Part number(not required, but helpful)
    -CPU
    -GPU
    -Operating system

Helios 300 and Nitro 5 users DO NOT update the BIOS to version 1.22 if you don't want the keyboard's backlight to turn off after 30 seconds even when the device is plugged in.

How did you determine they are non functional? Did the connectors in them break? To my knowledge replacement USB is just the connector. And pretty mush such items are soldered onto the mother board.

How do I remove the usb ribbon?  It appears to be attached with some kind of glue.  Anyone with experience?
