New Acer C22-720 too slow, especially internet

Hi guys,
I wonder whether you may give me some advice.
I have purchased the Acer C22-720 All-In-One less than a week ago, with the intent to use it to study and watch videos, perhaps Netflix and stuff like that. I have no intention to use it for gaming.
I noticed immediately that the pc is a bit on the slow side, but initially I thought that probably it still needs to get all the updates and I am aware that Windows 10 can be heavy. I got more suspicious when I noticed that internet is really bad! I set up my wifi connection easily and quickly, however even small videos of 3 minutes get stuck every 5-10 seconds to load. Impossible to watch anything like Netflix. Some days it does not work at all, giving me a message that the time to load the page expired. I am using Firefox as brower and I have tried Edge, same thing. I updated it and checked for add-ons/plugins, there are only 2. I deleted some silly apps in the hope that it would make the pc "lighter", but nothing. I checked for any tasks under task manager - start-up, but there are only 4 with low impact. Under task manager-processes there are lots of things in the list, but I would not be able to understand which ones are important or not.
Now, I have bought this computer to "replace" my 6 year old Samsung laptop, but at the moment I ma regretting it. The laptop has no issues at all, it's quick and internet works brilliantly. I have to say that I am no genius of pcs, so please don't use crazy jargon with me as I am just an average user. I believe the processor of the Acer (Intel Pentium) is less powerful than the one of my laptop (Intel Core something), however, would that impact the internet speed so much?? I want to highlight that the internet connection works perfectly all around the house, we watch Netflix on the tv, videos on phones and anything on the laptop, so only this pc seems to have problems. My router is downstairs, while my pc upstairs, maybe it is too far away from it? But surely nowadays this should not be an issue?
If there is anything you can suggest, I would really appreciate it. Or perhaps someone else has the same experience with the same model. I really hope to sort it out, as it wasn't cheap and I don't want to send it back. Thanks.

    Hi Learner87,
These are some simple steps that you can follow to get rid of slow internet issue.

    1) Close the Peer to Peer Update Process on Your Computer

1:  To start off, Click Start and then go ahead type Settings to open it.

2:  Next select Update and Security

3:Now under update and security click on Advanced option in the middle of the screen.

4:  Click on Choose How Updates are Delivered.

5:Turn off the on button by sliding the bar to off.

Next step is Quit your background apps

Some of the apps that take up a lot of your internet whilst it runs in the background include the following and turning them off makes a huge impact on internet speed.

    •  Steam
    • ***** Applications
    • Antivirus (Virus Database Update)
    • EA Origin
    • Cloud Sharing Applications

Find out which of your apps take up most of your Internet

Here’s how you can see which of your apps take up most of the internet and how to turn it off.

1:  Start off by right-clicking the Windows Task bar. Open Task Manager. (You can also search on your computer )

2: Once you’re in your Task Manager’s menu, click on the Performance tab.

3: Click on Open resource monitor.(on bottom of page)

4:  Lastly, click on the Network tab and check for all your apps or services that have a high number of send and receive requests.

The way it works is, the higher the number, then it shows that these apps or services are taking a chunk  of your internet bandwidth.

    5: Quitting your Apps

Since now you have an idea or sort of which of the apps or services that takes up most of your internet, you can now get onto disabling them.

1:  Click on Start and then select your Settings

2:  Next click on Privacy, and then Background apps. Here’s where you can turn Off for the apps and services that feed off your internet. So turn off the ones you don't use, if you have'nt done this before.

    Disable Windows Auto-Tuning feature

1:  Go ahead and press on your keyboard Windows key + X and then select Command Prompt(Admin).

2:  Next, type the command netsh interface tcp show global in the window.

3:  Now you are going to check for Receive Window Auto-Tuning Level and if you find that it is set to normal, then you will need to disable it.

4: Finally, again type another command netsh int tcp set global autotuninglevel=disabled to disable it.

Note: If after checking internet speed this does not make a difference you can re-enable Windows Auto-Tuning level back just by typing in the command  netsh int tcp set global autotuninglevel=normal in the Command Prompt (Admin).

Uninstall and reinstall the network drivers.

Windows logo key + X ( on keyboard).

Click on device manager from left panel.

Click on Arrow by the side of Network adaptors.

Check for wifi adaptor, Right click and click uninstall( Make sure you un-check delete driver as we are not deleting any driver)

Restart the computer to get a fresh driver installed .Now check the internet speed.

All these steps should really resolve the issue. Please let me know if this helped

Thank you very much for your help, I am going to try it now.

About the Windows Autotuning feature, is that ok to turn it off? I understand that it is there to make the data transfer more efficient?

This is the Network page when I am opening a new link on Firefox:

If I am not clicking on anything, but I leave the browser open and internet on, most of them disappear.

It seems to me these are not apps, but just normal things needed to run internet, right?

The background app  screen is really useful, thank you! Most of these settings are sort of hidden and I could not find them. I can see that all the app are on, so I will turn them off.

About the Updates, this is my Advanced Option screen. Everything is already unable.

I will see if this will be enough for now to make it all faster and if not I will try to uninstall and reinstall the driver too.

But, do you think I have made a good purchase for what I need? Or do you think this is not a good pc? This is the system info:

    Thank you!

    Hi Learner 87,
     Thanks you for your response.
The apps that you are talking about are just background apps. Believe me you can disable them. Also the auto tuning thing that I requested you to diaable is to check if that is impacting the internet speed.
If not you can always re-enable it with
Re-enable Windows Auto-Tuning level back just by typing in the command  netsh int tcp set global autotuninglevel=normal in the Command Prompt (Admin).

Please let me know if the internet speed improves. also you could reset the browser ones as well.

    Hi,
I am trying to disable autotuning, but it does not let me do it because it says I am not the administrator, even though I am.
However I have noticed that there is no command prompt administrator when I open Windows key+X. In fact I had to open it just typing it in the search bar.

I have turned off most of the general apps, however are you saying I can turn off the ones appearing under Network Activity too?

I have tried a Skype call and the overall quality was poor, the video was grainy and the other side could hear my voice really far away and low even though the connection seems fine! I think that the fact that the pc microphone is at the back of it does not help neither.

Oh, I have also noticed that even though I unabled everything in the Advanced Options for the Windows Update, the system does it anyway! And in fact it downloaded something and is has been installing it today all day. So, those advanced options don't seem to do much or they are for something else.

    Hi Learner87,
     Thanks for your response.
Don't need to do  disable auto-tuning for computer. That's ok.  You have also done good with the back ground apps. Please tell me something. When you are normally surfing the internet , not skype call, not vedio watching. Simply going through websites how does the computer respond.
Does it boot up the pages fast enough.

Sometimes yes and sometimes no. Today it has worked fairly ok (just the web pages). Other days it says the time has run out and can't even load the home page when I open the browser. The wifi signal sometimes goes from full to really low signal, but on all the other devices internet works at full speed with no glitches, all around the house, that's why I don't understand. Maybe this pc wifi receiver is not strong enough?

    Hi Learner87,
Thanks for your response. Please try this small step which might make a big difference.
Press the windows logo key + X( on keyboard).
From the left hand panel click the Device manager.
Now click on the arrow by the side of Network Adaptors.
Look for wifi or wireless driver.
When found do a right click on that and click on uninstall ( Make sure to uncheck the delete driver if that is checked, as we do not want to delete any driver).
Now restart the computer.( Also make sure not more than 3 devices are connected to same network, at the same time, because that may cause low speed).
Hope this works good, else we may need to do a factory reset

    Hi,
I am going to try that now.
In the meantime I run a broadband speed test, just to double check whether there is an issue with the internet connection. It looks like internet is fine.
I run it at the same time, on both the Acer and my laptop, in the same room upstairs.
The laptop gives a speed of 6mb, the Acer 0.51mb.
    Laptop:

    Acer pc:

I hope that the re-install of the driver will fix it, I will let you know. Thanks

I just noticed that I do not have the wifi adaptor to un-install. Could that be the reason why it's so slow?
    What should I do now?

    Hi Learner87,
The Intel(R) Dual band Wireless-AC3168  is the wireless  driver for you.
Right click and uninstall.(Make sure you uncheck the delete driver if its checked as we dont want to delete the driver).
     Restart computer.

    Hi,
I have done what you said about the driver, I even updated it and it still works bad. I have no devices connected to internet apart from my phone, which I don't use while I am using the pc.
    What should I do now?

Update: I have reset the whole computer, deleted everything. Once back, I have deactivated the apps again and I have done all the stuff previously done.
It looks like there is a minimal improvement, however it is still ridicolously slow, video-calls on skype are terrible. Should I send it back at this point?
