I purchased for my adult son in June 2018, the gaming Acer Nitro 5 and by early October 2018, the left side, lower monitor started pulling apart, within 2 days the screen was dead, but the computer turns on and keys are lit.  I spent $900.00 for this computer.  It this under warranty by Acer.  What can I do to remedy this issue.  The laptop is not usable.

    Hi Debran1219,
Please check the kind of warranty you have with acer. If you have a 3yr total protection  warranty then this is covered under warranty. For knowing the same please contact acer at http://www.acer.com/worldwide/support/.
If you are having a 1 yr standard warranty then unfortunately this will be considered as a chargeable repair.
Please let me know if this answers your question

    Hi @debran1219,
As per the above comments contact the acer support they will definitely help you in service. Since its a predator type you should be having 2yrs warranty. if its the manufacture defect and not a physical damage then they will fix it for free. you can also check with the store since its only 2days old. Good luck.

Thanks, but not two days old it was purchased on June 8, 2018, and started coming apart in early October.  I just need it fixed.  It's like my son's life (has high functioning autism).  Need it fixed ASAP.  I have the invoice from amazon.

    Hi Debran1219,
Thanks for your response. I know how important it is for you to get the computer fixed. Like I mentioned earliar if you have a Total protection then the damages are covered. And Just to add, If you feel that its a manufacturing defect then dont worry , just contact acer . They will take unit for warranty repair. If they too detect manufacturing defect which caused the lower left hand side to pull apart they will service it for free.

Ordered the Nitro 5 Gaming Laptop late July 2018, come September the back was falling apart, the laptop itself won't even close, it just creaks and cracks. Called Acer Support Service Multiple times, and the guy insists the laptop "was been dropping down". Tried to tell him multiple times the Laptop had NOT been dropped, but it was falling apart. He asked if it still worked, and since it did, the fact it was falling apart wasn't a problem. Called again today since this 'new' nearly thousand dollar laptop is literally being held together with tape and the screen is dropping out the bottom with wires showing. Once again they said there was nothing they can do, with the exception of paying an additional $49.99 to have it looked at, and POSSIBLY fixed. Why? Because this was "normal" laptop wear and tear. Previously bought a Laptop from Acer, and it lasted over 6 years without EVER falling apart like this. Clearly the standards have long since receded, or someone is seriously lying. This Laptop is still under the Year's Warranty, but apparently that means nothing? Bought this Laptop Brand New Directly from the Acer Site, not from some side store where they could have managed it. The Question is: Why bother with giving/getting a Full Year's Warranty if it does nothing but cost extra? Also, WHAT exactly do you get from Warranty? Is it an empty promise?

I have the exact same issue, bought this laptop in july 2018, never dropped it, didn't even move it around all that much, never took it with me outside the house, it either was on my desk or my bed and it just started to fall apart. Right now I'm holding the screen together by using a paper holder clip. Sad thing is I had the exact same problem with another acer laptop I bought back in 2015, though I didn't mind it all that much because I bought it for 300euros, figured I got what I paid for and made my peace with it (yes I'm very tolerable). But now guess what, I paid 1000euros for the nitro5 and after less than 6 months of use it starts to break apart just like that cheap acer laptop I bought earlier. This is downright insulting, not to speak of the fps and heating issues I've been trying to solve ever since I bought the da*n thing. I have a couple of people who are also looking to buy a budget laptop, they asked me if the acer nitro 5 was a good choice and I told them that they would be better off not buying any acer product at all unless they want to throw their hard earned money away. It's really a shame this happened to me but at least I can warn others to make sure it doesn't happen to them.

Good to know Acer is screwing everyone over and it isn't a personal problem! Actually had some guests over, and they looked at this "new" Laptop covered in tape, and mentioned how it might be time to buy a new laptop. Outright told them it WAS a new laptop, then they asked the brand so they can avoid ever buying it. Let's hope word passes around quickly so no one else gets shafted like we did. Talk about a massive waste of money!

I have the same issue with my Acer which was bought in August 2018 and back in March the right hinge had busted the laptops back apart and the screen now has shadow residue on the right and left side. I couldn’t send it in because I absolutely needed it for school. I called Acer Support a few minutes ago & the only answers I got were “we can’t fix that, its not covered.” Since Acer clearly does not care about their customer’s hard earned money going towards their products, I recommend just filing complaints on the Better Business Bureau (BBB) in order to finally open their eyes.
