Hi, I need to upgrade the RAM on my Swift 3 SF315-52G-80TV, the UHD model with the 2TB HDD and 512GB SSD. I can't find any documentation indicating where the slots can be found, and having opened the back they are not obvious. The only place I can see they might be is underneath a metal cover to the left of the fan, however I can't see how to remove that cover. The detailed specs on the Acer store where I ordered the laptop specifically state 2 RAM slots and 32GB RAM max (8GB fitted), so unless that's an error this must be possible. Can anyone assist?

Thanks

You must remove the bottom case to get at the mainboard 2 RAM slots as shown below. Jack E/NJ

Thanks for that. I looked near the USB3 ports, I presume the single USB port on the left of the laptop is the USB2, and the 2 USB ports of the right, with the blue insides, are USB3, but saw no SODIMM slots. I took the battery out, but still no slots to be seen. Do you perhaps have a diagram or photo of where they are?

    Thanks

    Steven

Ah, ok, so they are under the metal cover. I had only found 1 screw holding that cover down, on the right hand side next to the fan, but couldn't find any others. On further examination I discovered that the cover just lifted off, if I gently took off the tape holding the CMOS battery and its cable into place, along with another piece onto the heat pipe. Not very user friendly design, but I've now located the 2 SODIMM slots. Thanks for your assistance.

    >>>Not very user friendly design>>>

Well at least didn't have a sticker saying "no user serviceable parts inside" =) Good luck with it! Jack E/NJ

It's option 3 I'm afraid, both SODIMM slots were occupied, on mine at least, so I had to lose one of the SODIMMs before putting in a larger one.

stevenE   is correct on option 3. You really must check before you purchase. You might be able to use Speccy or HWinfo system information freeware to check but it's better to open the cover to make sure. Machines with 4GB probably have only one slot occupied (1 x 4GBmodule) . Machines with 8GB probably have both slots occupied (2 x 4GB modules). Jack E/NJ
