So now that I've got my Predator all up and firing on all cylinders I signed up for EA origins and holy jesus those games are fat, Battlefront 2 is 70 GB alone. So now I need a second drive since my ssd will be devoured by downloads that big, Any suggestions? I've read a few reviews saying I'd need an extra cable if I got a SATA Hdd. I'd prefer a hdd simply for size and cost since all saves through origin are all cloud saves, it would just be for the game files.

Or would a hybrid like the firecuda be better? Seagate 2TB FireCuda Gaming SSHD SATA 6Gb/s Flash Accelerated (8GB) Performance Hard Drive (ST2000LX001) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01M1NHCZT/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_FNr2Bb7MBPNY5
The sshd wont do you any good for games neither ssd you wouldn't notice any performance because when the game starts its the cpu and gpu and ram who has to perform all the hard tasks so it doesn't matter if you install you games on hdd ssd sshd as long as you OS is on an ssd.

I can say i noticed loads of performance on os boot when i migrated both of my 5740G to sshd one has a firecuda 2tb (which stopped working after less than one month lost everything on it amazon had sent a replacement this i why i never trusted seagate for hdd i burned loads and lost so much though out the years) and the other has a toshiba h200 1tb never had any issue but unfortunately toshiba wont make 2.5 sshd drives with more than 1tb and the max normal 2.5 they have its 3tb ( the L200 only has 2tb) meaning i will have to go to seagate again to get a 2.5 5tb hdd its the largest on the market so far just for games at least if i loose it i wont loose to much as most of the games save in the cloud i think the largest game i have its shadow of war 107gb and from the 3tb i have in storage a 2tb ssd and 1tb hdd i only have about 300gb free now :p

And i might be upgrading my 7745G i7 to sshd too in due time

    Thanks.
    1. In which country do you live?
    2. Did you already check if your laptop was shipped with the HDD cable and bracket?

Open the small box that is in place with a single screw (there would be two - one for RAM and one for HDD on most models). A look at it would suffice to know if there is a cable there or not.

Sorry posted this earlier today when I was out and about when I saw the missing cable post, SATA cable is confirmed! Now for HDD selection, anybody know of any good deals? I was looking at this one on amazon unless anybody knows of a better deal. Seagate 2TB Barracuda SATA 6Gb/s 128MB Cache 2.5-Inch 7mm Internal Hard Drive (ST2000LM015) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01LX13P71/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_YCr2BbVJV42SS
