    Any news anyone?
As a matter of fact, yes:
The AN515-52 (i5+Nvidia variant) which was announced WAY after the AMD variant is already available on Amazon:
    https://www.amazon.com/Acer-Nitro-AN515-i5-8300H-NVIDIA/dp/B07C6WYLQB/ref=sr_1_9?ie=UTF8&qid=1524591791&sr=8-9&keywords=an515-52
And as per https://www.notebookcheck.net/Where-are-all-the-Kaby-Lake-G-laptops-Nvidia-s-GeForce-Partner-Program-may-be-to-blame.300748.0.html it seems that Acer is working with Nvidia on the GeForce Partner Program. They also didn't get back to me when I asked them when the AN515-42 will be coming out.
So, my take on this? I GUESS it's not coming out. Screw Nvidia. I'm only waiting until the start of May if it comes out. Otherwise I'm switching over to Dell to get my Ryzen.

I haven't seen anything related to the An515-42 yet but khizar's post is interesting. If you check the US Nitro web page https://www.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/series/nitro5 you'll see that they updated the images of it to reflect but there is no An515-42 model. I also anticipate a May release as a few other laptops seem to be coming out then as well but it won't hurt to have second choice if you can't wait.

I guess they will toss up all versions once they become available for sale. I'm just as anxious as you are though, I just got paid. Quickly Acer, before the bills consume my laptop monies, lol. :D

Nice, I'm also looking to do light gaming and some college work on it. I was looking at the Nitro Spin and wondered what if Acer got a Ryzen in there with the same RX 560X video card and bump the soldered memory up to 16GB (from the current 8). It would be a decent alternative to the An515-42.

The RX Cards only go up to 8gbs.

I didn't mean the graphics card mem, talking about system. The current nitro spin only has 8GB of system ram soldered directly to the board. If they could squeeze in another 8 for a total of 16GB system ram and make it a Ryzen machine with the RX vid card I may be tempted to grab it.

The memory on isn't soldered onto the bored and will have 8 to 32 gbs of ram support.

Yes it does, I'm talking about the Acer nitro 5 Spin, not the Nitro 5 AN515-42. :P Here is the Spin https://www.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/series/nitro5spin

So here's a little discovery regarding the Intel+Nvidia based model (AN515-52). The price is out. And I'm guessing the Ryzen 2700U based model would cost a hundred-ish USD lesser than this one.
    https://www.acer.com/ac/en/AU/content/models/laptops/nitro5
Edit: I just Googled the equivalent price in USD.

Yikes, after dropping off the $100 and converting it's still a bit pricey. I hope they drop a few hundred off. Frankly I'm cool with the Ryzen 2500U, 16GB memory, the RX 560X discrete graphics, a 256GB SSD and 1TB HDD. Got a budget of US$1000 give or take US$100.

Not to be rude but didn't they say this laptop was going to hover around 800 dollars?

Yup, here's the excerpt "The Acer Nitro 5 will be available in North America in April with prices starting at US$799; and in EMEA in April with prices starting at €899." at the bottom of this page https://www.acer.com/ac/en/US/press/2018/324934. These can be considered as the starting price for the base version of the laptop. We'll have to wait and see what the true prices are for our respective configurations.

Yeah, that's what they said, but the estimate I was making was of a 2700U. Or it could be priced similar to an i5 model - my point was that since an Intel based model costs that much (as given in the link), shave off a hundred-something and you'll get the price of a somewhat equivalent AMD based model. ;)

I'm not sure if you are able to customize it before purchasing or whether you have to select between preconfigured systems, guess we will see once it's finally launched.

I mean every other laptop company lets you spec it out...
