Hello, I have a Predator Helios 300 and am awaiting to receive my mounting kit fra Acer-Blayn.

Which harddrive would you recommend installing, HDD or SSHD? And is it even possible to install a SSD with the cable he is sending? Thank you Smiley Happy.

If you want, you may link a harddrive from Amazon or something. It needs to be around 512 GB - 1 TB storage and not too expensive Smiley Happy

Yes you should be able to install something like this if you want SSD in that spot: https://www.amazon.com/Samsung-2-5-Inch-Internal-MZ-75E500B-AM/dp/B00OBRE5UE/ref=pd_sim_147_6?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=69N94997T30KTXY7DH0G

Is that in your price range?

You can install anything as long as it is SATA and is 2.5inch drive.
Always post the following characterisitcs of the device:
    -Model number
    -Part number(not required, but helpful)
    -CPU
    -GPU
    -Operating system

Helios 300 and Nitro 5 users DO NOT update the BIOS to version 1.22 if you don't want the keyboard's backlight to turn off after 30 seconds even when the device is plugged in.

Yea any sata III, 2.5 inch drive should be okay. This might be more in your price range perhaps: https://www.amazon.com/Seagate-Firecuda-2-5-Inch-Internal-ST1000LXB15/dp/B01LWRTRZU

Precisely! Much more in my price range. Is that fine to have my games on?

I want to have my system on my SSD and games on this, is that optimal?

Yep perfectly fine to have it set up like that. You can still install some games to your SSD if you want really fast loading times for certain games, other than that it won't make a difference. Good luck!

Thank you mate! I have seen this video on youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EhbzjRCKQSk&t=340s

Is that the cable that Acer-Blayn is sending to me, and is that a SATA 3 cable? Smiley Happy

You're welcome! The rectangular connector and cable here: https://youtu.be/EhbzjRCKQSk?t=2m5s is the one you should be getting if it was missing when you opened the panel.

You'll have to disassemble your laptop (Here is Acer's guide: https://us.answers.acer.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/46866/~/hard-drive-installation-instructions-for-predator-helios-300-laptops) to get to the motherboard connection.

Hello, i have bought too the Acer Predator Helios 300 with 256GB SSD and i would like to know what is the best for a secondary HDD between the Seagate Firecuda (5400rpm) and the WD Black (7200rpm).
And would the WD Black fit in the laptop, because it is a little higher (2.75 x 3.94 x 0.35 in) vs (2.75 x 3.95 x 0.28 in) Firecuda.

Just wondering, I got my helios 300 from amazon and I don't think it came with a mounting kit for installing upgrades. Is there somewhere I can get one or do I need it in the first place? thanks
