Hi everyone! I'm running Windows 10 on my Aspire 5740 and the video drivers seem to be working perfectly. The only issue is that brightness is not adjustable. How can I fix it? I know that apparently the Aspire 5740 is driver-supported until Windows 7 so I wanted to know if there's some way to fix this issue or if I have to rollback to Windows 7 to be able to adjust the brightness. Thanks!

I had the same issue with my Acer Aspire 5740G. How I fixed it.

Solution 1. Change the brightness of your screen (even though you'll see no difference when changing) then turn your screen off and on again with the key Fn+F6. Your brightness will change upon restart! It isn't very convenient but it's better than burning your eyes and it works with the right drivers.

Solution 2. If you do not like the first solution then you can change your video driver to standard microsoft driver. This can be done in your device manager. There is no need to use Fn+F6 as it should work right away but you might loose your video performance.

    Hope that helps!

    1. Download lastest AMD driver amd-catalyst-15.7.1-win10-64bit and install.

    2. The LCD brightness control not working in Windows 10, becouse driver have a bug. To fix it open Registry Editor (regedit.exe) and find this key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Control\Class\{4d36e968-e325-11ce-bfc1-08002be10318}\0000
    3. Next, find two DWORD keys and set both to value "0":
    a) "KMD_EnableBrightnessInterface2"

    b) "MD_EnableBrightnesslf2" (if not exist you must create key (DWORD 32bit) with the name "MD_EnableBrightnesslf2".

    4. Reboot your notebook.

I have testet it and it works with Catalyst 15.7.1.

This fix did also work on an Aspire 7741G with Catalyst 2015.1104.1643.30033.

    Many thanks to PiotrekP.
