Cannot reset BIOS password??

Trying to fix an Aspire E1-531.

BIOS previously had password set - which I KNEW.

Tried disabling BIOS password by entering current password then pressing [Enter] as 'new password' and 'confirm password'

BIOS is still password protected - and it now won't accept EITHER password.

Help!

    so...

I finally managed to reset the CMOS and thus disabled the BIOS password.

    HOWEVER

Now I have no options to set a new password...

    *update*

so-called BIOS Master Passwords are of no use to me as the insydeH20 isn't generating a checksum code...

all I get is "System will halt!! Press any key" at which point it reboots.

HOW do you remove the bios password or is this a fake acer post?

Repeat entering the incorrect password until a box appears with a code. Then google "bios password recovery for laptops" and enter code. You should get a new code that ***might*** work. If it doesn't, you'll have to open the laptop to remove the CMOS coin cell from the mainboard to discharge the BIOS chip and clear the password. Jack E/NJ
