Hi,

I have a notebook with a strange behaviour under Win 7 x64 Home Fr.

External screen is working but not the main screen.

When I press Fn + F6, I see a very short time the main screen powering on and then get off.

Video adapter is ATI Mobility Radeon H4200 Series. (driver is 8.970.100.1100 - 24/04/2013)

I've installed AMD auto detect to update to this driver.

When I press Fn + F5, I see on the external screen which mode it will use (clone, duplicate...). But still can't get main screen 'on'. The auto detect define main screen has unknown.

Any idea ?

Thanks,

Vincent

check one last thing, use a tochlight and point it to your laptop monitor (only with laptop monitor working), can you see something?

if not, or your monitor is completly dead, or the monitor cable is disconnected inside the laptop.

    I'm not an Acer employee.

when you boot, do you see splash screen logo or BIOS or the screen is still black (using only laptop monitor)?

Nothing at all with only main screen.

If I use the external monitor, I have all on external monitor (BIOS & Windows)

    You're right. Screen is dead.

Fn +F6 just boost the screen brightness for a few milliseconds.

Using torch, I see the desktop behind.

if you see the desktop behind, you need a new inverter for your monitor.

let me ask help for the part number to Laurent14.

    Hello Vincent,

I need additional informations to help you:

    1. What model do you own exactly?
    2. Could you give me the first ten characters of the computer serial number (S/N)? Only the first ten.

    Hello Vincent,

Unfortunately the inverter is fixed behind the LCD panel. You have to replace this one.

Here is an original LCD panel with the inverter:

    LG LP156WH4-TLN2

    Remark:

Your laptop is an eMachines E442-142G25Mnkk.
