Internal mouse on Aspire 7750G stopped working! Hardware or software issue?

Fairly simply query. The mousepad on my old Aspire 7750G doesn't respond, and all the settings suggest it's working properly. My external mouse (through USB port) works fine; this is only an issue with the pad on the computer itself. Could it be a hardware issue? The computer is 4 years old, so no warranty anymore, unfortunately.

If it's not hardware, can anyone help me with tips on how to fix it?

Sorry about the dumb question but...have you tried pressing Fn+F7?

if you already did and is still dead, have you checked on device manager if it's listed?

I feel really stupid now. Fn+F7 solved it. I have no idea how this must have disabled itself.

    Thanks so much.
