Webcam and sound on ACER Aspire E17

The webcam is fuzzy and the audio can barely be heard even at the highest volume. The support people's only answer is those are the specs for this computer. Has anyone found a solution to make the audio a decent volume? Or, does anyone else have these problems with this laptop?

    stjameswriter,

I've sent you a PM in regards to this.

I've been trying to have skype calls and even though I hear perfectly the other person, they can't hear me. If I scream they might hear me, but still very distant. The only sound they mainly hear is when I touch something on the computer, the sound of collision goes through.

Is there anything I can do, or is it a main problem that this laptop has?

    Thanks

    tasosstam,

Are you using the microphone that is built into the notebook itself, or a headset?

If you are using a headset it doesn't sound like the microphone is set to the headset.

If you are using the built in, it sounds like you might need to configure it a bit.

    Acer-Justin,

I'm using the built in. I've tried to put everything on top volume but still no result

    tasosstam,

If I am not mistaken the microphone is not located where the webcam is, it is located on the front near the touchpad area, a very small pinhole. Do you have an external microphone or a headset that has a microphone that you can test this functionality with?

Actually I tried to use my headphones as well and it still had the same issue.

    tasosstam,

Does your headset have a separate part on it for adjusting the mic or headset volume? I know that mine at home has a couple sliders for adjusting (game, chat, bass boost) and it has a mute toggle... which I leave on all the time because I like talking to myself rather than the people I am grouped with. LoL

It's actually a phone headset. Iphone headset.

    tasosstam,

When you have the iPhone headset plugged in you probably need to go to the recording tab of the sound settings and make it point towards that, see if that will help with the headset. Also, just to make sure, please make sure that the headset is plugged in all the way.

I finally gave up and bought external speakers. They solved the problem, so it was definitely the quality of the speakers in the Acer. Also, the webcam seems to have gotten sharper, but it is nowhere as good as my Dell or my older ACERS. I bought this computer because I'd had very good luck with my other Acers. Imagine my surprise when I'd spoken to an Acer tech and he said, well they didn't use the best quality in that model. Goes to show you can't just rely on a brand name that has been good before. If I had it to do over again, I'd probably buy another Dell.

    stjameswriter,

I am sorry that your experience with your notebook is not the stellar experience we want our customers to have. I would also like to apologize for you being told that we do not use the best quality in that notebook. While the parts may not be really high end top of the line stuff that are in the really expensive notebooks nowadays, we certainly did not put ***** parts in it. Smiley Frustrated
