Keyboard repeat delay and repeat rate are significantly slowed.

Hi there. I'm on an Acer Aspire R3-471T, and I recently did a BIOS update in the hopes that it would make my mouse pointer stop disappearing(it did, by the way). However, now my keyboard repeat delay and repeat rate are unbearably slow. I've cranked the settings up to max in the control panel, but it doesn't seem to matter what I set them to, it's still super slow. It takes 3 seconds of holding a button for it to start repeating, and only repeats 3 characters per second. I'm not sure what it was at before, but this is really really slow and it's messing up my 'flow' of typing. Any advice?

    connollybrenna,

Check if your Filter Keys option is enabled and disable it if so:
    1. Click Start -> Control Panel -> Ease of Access -> Make the keyboard easier to use
    2. Check the box next to Turn on Filter Keys, if there is a check in the box remove the check and see if that resolves your issue.

Filter keys are off. New problem(or perhaps problem I didn't notice before) has arisen-- upon coming out of sleep, the keyboard no longer works. I can type if I use an on-screen keyboard just fine. I have to restart the machine to get my keystrokes to register again.

    connollybrenna,

I would suggest a refresh to see if that resolves it.

Should that fail, you might need to have the system looked at by Acer.
