After Sleep HDMI port stops working correctly- In other words, my laptop will not send the display to the external monitor.  Where can I find drivers that will resolve this problem?

    mexcracker,

You can access the OSD and set your monitor to search for the HDMI (digital) connection and see if that works.

    You can also try this:

    1. Control Panel
    2. Power Options
    3. Changed advanced power settings
    4. Scroll down and expand PCI Express
    5. Expand Link state power management
    6. Turn both to off

Sorry, I made it so my laptop wasn't suppose to go to sleep, but somehow it did.  I may have accidently hit the sleep button.  Unfortunately, after the computer and monitor have gone to sleep, rewaking the computer is not a problem, but no matter what it will not detect the external monitor anymore.  It doesn't even help to restart the laptop.  After a few days of no use the external monitor can again be detected.

    mexcracker,

Try and set the monitor to HDMI using the OSD, that way it always looks for that signal.

After you turn it on from sleep, what happens if you unplug the micro HDMI connection from the tablet and plug it back in, does it pick up the signal?

The monitor doesn't offer that option.  I use a vga to hdmi adapter.  Both unplugging it and replugging it back in and doing a manual search for other monitors in windows after awaking the computer from sleep are ineffective.

    mexcracker,

Since you are using an adapter to convert I am not sure if that is what the main issue is honestly. When I have my tablet connected to my TV at home, I use a micro HDMI to HDMI cable, when it does not detect it I do one of two things:

Unplug the cable and plug it back in, the screen on the tablet blinks

Open up the sound playback options and see if it detects the HDMI connection, that typically causes it to activate

I believe the problem has something to do with the sleep coding.  Yesterday, I was not using an external monitor and put my laptop into sleep mode.  After waking it back up, I tried reconnecting the external monitor.  It made a connection sound like it always does, but would not detect the monitor connected to the port.  Everytime this happens I use another laptop for a couple days until the memory is cleared.  Microsoft says it's your problem, but I'm not too sure.

    mexcracker,

Try those steps I listed when it acts up and see if it gets it working.

I would like to add to my previous statement, the tablet we have connected to our TV 99% of the time that experiences this issue is a Microsoft Surface 2. Smiley Frustrated

I also have a Surface RT, but do not have the same problems that I am having with this device.  I have attempted all of your suggestions above, but haven't had any luck.  I have now found another issue.  Although I have set the computer never to go into sleep mode in the power mode controls, it still sometimes does go to sleep.  Why would it be doing this?

    Additional Information

As I previously mentioned if I unplug and replug in the cable into the micro hdmi port I hear the sound and it appears to detect the monitor showing up in device manager and when I remove it it disappears from device manager.  However, even though this is the case if I go into the display options and request that it display on the external monitor, it says no monitor detected.  Additionally, I have also tried deleting the device that shows up in the device manager and having it reinstall the device drivers, but after doing so the same thing occurs whenever I put the computer into sleep.

    Any other suggestions?

    mexcracker,

Make sure you check the advanced settings for the power plan, it probably has something in there that will still put the system to sleep.

When you plug it in it recognizes the external display, that is a good thing, try opening the sound properties and clicking the playback tab and see if it initiates up the signal.
