Cracked screen

Hi. I'm new to this forum and just had a quick question. My husband has an Acer Aspire V5-561P Touch Screen that he has loved and had no issues with until last week when he opened it up like usual and it cracked unexpectedly. He brought it into a computer store, and they informed him he needs to buy a whole new screen at a large cost. Apparantly, a screw came loose inside of the screen and fell out. This seems like a factory defect to me since it wasn't bumped or anything? Anyways, what is the best option here? Is this something that acer would fix since it wasn't our fault? We are no longer under warranty. Thanks.

As this is a hardware issue and your computer is not under warranty anymore, you are advised to contact the nearest Acer service center for further assistance. To do this, the following link can be helpful:

    Hope this will help you.

    Jill2,

Could you please send me with some information in a PM so I can research this for you? I don't see it registered in our system so I would need the following:

    SNID / serial number

    email address

    shipping information

    phone/contact number

My wife and I have the exact same computer. I realized that I was dealing with a loose screw before I had any issues, but my wife totally lost a screw and the other needs to be tightened. This was realized as she now has a cracked screen from the computer not being able to close smoothly. The bottom left side has more of a crunch to the screen, while a crack goes across the screen. It appears that the screen still works, but the touchscreen capabililty is making the mouse go nuts. We can not change away from touchscreen. Was there anything that could be done as per this other post? It shows that and acer tech asked for information to enable some research.

    Thanks

    JH4,

Thank you for the information. Unfortunately, due to the age of the notebook, we would be unable to perform a repair for you; even out of warranty. You can check with a local repair technician and see if they can assist you.
