Hey I have an Acer Aspire 1410, a netbook/notebook, which my small brother recently dropped from the bed. When I switched it on, the message "Check cable connection pxe-m0f exiting intel pxe rom no bootable device insert boot disk &press any key message" appeared on the screen. I've tried entering the BIOS Menu and adjust the settings but nothing seems to work. I ca'nt tell whether the harddrive exists. Please help me, it's a laptop I was given by a good friend to help me with my school work.

I'm sorry to hear that you are experiencing boot issues after an ... incident.

I would first suggest checking to ensure that the hard drive has not come loose and is securely seated.

On the bottom of the notebook is a large door, which you can see in this image, labeled as #4.

Unscrew the two screws holding the door in place and remove the door.

Lift the hard drive cover up and away by the corner.

Check the drive position and the cable that is attached at the interior side of the drive.

If this does not correct the issue for you, I can only suggest service as an alternative.

Chana, you probably have to take it to a shop. I noticed that your error mesage included the suggestion that you insert a repair disk. If you can borrow a legal copy of your operating system, insert it into the optical (DVD) drive and reboot. MAYBE it will take you to a repair menu.

But if you have hardware damage, and you probably do, you need to take it to a shop.
