Acer Aspire 5253-BZ496 Laptop has no sound

My laptop is an Acer Aspire 5253-BZ496 laptop which I restored to factory defaults through Acer Recovery. After restoring the laptop, the laptop's speakers don't seem to function. I went to the drivers part of the website and downloaded and installed the Windows 7 64-bit drivers for audio which were the Conextant version 8.41.1.0 and my speakers volume can be adjusted through windows and even shows the bars rising and falling when sound should be playing as if it were, but there's no sound coming from the laptop. I even tried to install the Windows 7 High Definition audio drivers that were already there and neither have sound playing through the laptop's speakers. Any reason for this? Any fixes? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

    Hi pinty41

Have you tried connecting headphones to your laptop, to see if sound comes from them?

If there is STILL no sound, check Device Manager to see if there are any issues with installed devices. If all appears OK, then I'd suggest there will be an issue with your sound card, and will need to be checked out by a specialist.

If the headphones work, but the speakers don't, there may be a fault with them.

Hello, the headphone jack does indeed work. I can get full sound through any headphones connected to the laptop. Just not through the laptop's actual speakers.

It might be something simple like the cable that connects the speakers to the mobo has worked loose.

Take it to your local PC store for a checkup. Or, if you're confident you may try to dismantle it to check yourself.
