Iconia A1-810 - Where are Lock Screen Apps settings?

The manual for my new Acer Iconia A1-810 tablet includes the following paragraph:

Lock screen apps:

To activate frequently used applications, press the lock button and drag to one
of four Lock screen apps on the left side of the circle. This unlocks the tablet
and opens that application immediately.

Note: Open APPS > Settings > Lock Screen Apps to change these applications.

I can find no Lock Screen Apps entry in my Settings panel anywhere.

How do I set up the apps I want to appear on my Lock Screen when I drag the Lock Button to various locations on the Lock Circle?

Thanks.

It should be just as the manual states.

    Go to Apps

    Click on Settings

Under Device, you should see listed Lock Screen Apps.

Click on that will bring up 4 options on the right portion of the screen where you can set the apps for the Lock Screen.

If you do not see this listed, you may wish to attempt to reset the device.

Also, please list the version of Android that is present on the device.

    Thanks for your reply.

Unfortunately, when I go into Settings, under Device, I see only:

    Sound

    Display

    Storage

    Battery

    Apps

    Users

My A1-810 tablet has Android 4.2.2 installed.  It was 4.2.1 when I got it two weeks ago, but just last week it auto-updated itself to 4.2.2 -- which didn't make any difference in Lock Screen Apps showing up in my Settings panel.

Any other ideas?  (I'm reluctant to reset the device if that's not the actual fix to the problem -- since that would mean I'd have to reinstall all my apps.)

    Regards.

    Hi.

I have the exact same problem.

I can't find "Lock screen apps".

I go: Desktop > settings > Apps (in device section) and then I see all apps installed or downloaded.

There is no "settings" in Apps or no "lock screen apps"

    I also run 4.2.2.

Can you please post a screenshot of where to find it?

    Kind regards

    Dan.

I was wrong.  The manual is wrong.

There are no Lock Screen Apps on the A1-810.

I'm looking at one that we were just able to get into my hands.  The lock screen does not have apps.

I will be feeding this back to help alleviate this confusion in the future.

If you can provide for me the part number on the back of the manual that you have, I would appreciate it.

I just recently found out there is a way to (sort of) set up apps on the A1-810 lock screen. Although there is no entry in the Settings panel, I accidentally stumbled across a way of adding apps to the lock screen - from the lock screen itself.

When you first turn on the A1-810, you see a faint outline of the edge of an empty square in the upper-left corner. I finally got curious enough to see what it did, so I swiped it to the right and - lo and behold - that square will move to the middle of the lock screen and show either an app widget or a plus sign that you can click on. If you click on the plus sign, a choice of apps shows up (Calendar, Digital Clock, Email, Gmail, Google Now, Google+ Posts on my unit) and choosing one of them will put that widget in that square.

After you've set up one or more squares with these widgets, you can swipe back and forth among them on the lock screen. When one of them (say Calendar or Gmail) is in the centre of the lock screen, you can tap on its title bar so that it reduces in size and covers the unlock icon. Then, sliding the unlock icon in the usual manner (in any direction), the tablet will unlock and open directly into the app represented by that widget. You have to remember to tap on the widget first, so it moves down over the unlock icon, before unlocking will behave any differently than usual (opening to the main Home screen).

It's all rather convoluted, with too many steps involved and not enough app choices (not nearly as convenient as just adding any app icon to the ring around the unlock icon - like it says can be done in the manual), but it does provide a way of turning on the A1-810 and unlocking it directly into a selected app (although only one of a few, measly choices - I can't find any way to add other apps to the list of those you can pick for placing on the lock screen).

BTW:  The manual is only available online (as an Adobe Acrobat file) and it doesn't show the back page.  The only information I cound find in it (no "part number") was:

I also found out how to add apps to the squares on the lock screen, but as you say, it's not as convenient as if is was to the lock circle and it annoys me, because it says it can be done.
So if someone could show me, and screenshots would be best, I would be very happy Smiley Happy

Ohh, I didn't see Acer-Tommy's post Smiley Embarassed

Well, when it can't be done, I don't have to worry about that anymore Smiley Happy
